The Voice Season 3: The Battle Rounds Week 2

The Voice

Season 3:

This week the Battle Rounds continued. Sadly I must say I was kinda let down in Rounds 3 and 4. It just didn’t have the epic feeling, that I have said Season 3 has had since night one of the Blind Ausitions. I think partly why that is, is because a few artists I wanted to win didn’t.

The Battles Round 3

Team Adam:

A Battle Between: Benji Vs Sam James

Song Choice was: Bon Jovi’s You Give Love A Bad Name

Damnit, the wrong person won this! I enjoyed Benji’s sound and performance over Sam’s. I wish someone would have stolen Benji. I’m surprised that CeeLo didn’t.

Sam was the winner, with no one stealing Benji.

Team CeeLo:

A Battle Between: Nicholas David Vs Todd Kessler

Song Choice was: She’s Gone by Hall & Oates

Arrrrggggggg neither of these artists impressed me, I am a huge Hall & Oates fan. So I might be biassed, and I felt neither of them embodided the song. After going back, and previewing Nicholas’s version, I do find myself liking what he did with the song.

Nicholas David won the battle, with no coach stealing Todd Kessler.

Team Christina:

A Battle Between: Dez Duron Vs Paulina

Song Choice was: Bruno Mars song, Just The Way You Are

YESSSSSSSS Dez won, so happy for him. This might be the only battle of the night where I actually enjoyed watching the show. Dez really knocked it outta the park.

Dez Duron won the battle, with no coach pressing their Steal Button for Paulina

You can get Dez’s version of Just The Way You Are here.

A Battle Between: Joselyn Rivera Vs Sylvia Yacoub

Song Choice was: Beyonce’s The Best Thing I Never Had

I loved the battle, sadly I’m not a fan of Sylvia… her voice is wayyyy too overpowering. She drowned out Joselyn sooo much.

Sylvia Yacoub won the battle, with Joselyn being stolen to another team.

You can get Sylvia’s version of The Best Thing You Never Had here.

Team Blake:

A Battle Between: Julio Caesar Castillo Vs Terisa Griffin

Song Choice was: Conga by Gloria Estefan

I really love that they show the training, practice, and coaching on this show. At first I thought I wasn’ gonna like this battle, but at the end I really did. Both Julio and Terisa really knocked it outta the park.

Julio won the battle, with Terisa being stolen to another team.

A Battle Between: Lelia Broussard Vs Suzanna Choffel

Song Choice was: Florence and the Machine’s Dog Days Are Over

I love Suzanna’s voice, but I wasn’t into the song choice at all. Lelia never impressed me, so no real opinion on her performance.

Suzanna won the battle, with no coach hitting their Steal Button for Lelia.

The Battles Round 4

I can not stress enough how I hate the hour long show, because of the shortened time, we don’t get to see certain artists shine. It reminds me of Award ceremonies when they say… also winning awards, and then they show a montage. I understand it’s a time thing but damn, how are we supposed to know we wanna buy an artists rendition of a song???

Team Adam:

A Battle Between: Kayla Nevarez Vs Alessandra Guercio

Song Choice was: Katy Perry’s Wide Awake

After listening to Kayla’s version of American Boy again, I really do love her voice, but with this Katy Perry song I think Alessandra really was the winner here. I loved how both of their voices kinda blended together, and they seemed to sing in unison. That was very cool.

Kayla was the winner, with Alessandra being stolen away to another team.

Team CeeLo:

A Battle Between: Mackenzie Bourg Vs Emily Earle

Song Choice was: Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen

I enjoyed the performance, but I’m not a Bourg fan! I enjoyed Emily’s style more. Plus I’ve never heard the song before I don’t think….. So yeah, sad to see Emily Earle go.

Bourg assimilated and won the battle, with no coach stealing Emily Earle.

You can get Mackenzie’s Version of Good Time here

Team Blake:

A Battle Between: Liz Davis Vs Nicole Johnson

Song Choice was: Miranda Lambert’s Baggage Claim

I really love that they show the training, practice, and coaching on this show. At first I thought I wasn’ gonna like this battle, but at the end I really did. Both Julio and Terisa really knocked it outta the park.

Liz won the battle, with no coach stealing Nicole.

Battles That Only Got A Preview:

Here are the battles that got no real TV airtime!

Team Adam:

A Battle Between: Adanna Duru Vs Michelle Brooks-Thompson

Song Choice was: Beyonce’s Crazy In Love

After listening to Kayla’s version of American Boy again, I really do love her voice, but with this Katy Perry song I think Alessandra really was the winner here. I loved how both of their voices kinda blended together, and they seemed to sing in unison. That was very cool.

Michelle was the winner, with Adanna being eliminated.

You can get Michelle’s version of Crazy In Love here

Team CeeLo:

A Battle Between: Ben Taub Vs Mycle Wastman

Song Choice was: Alex Clare’s Too Close

Because I’m a fan of Mycle I bought the song without even listening to it. Again these mini clips showing the battles don’t give me much to go on. However after listening to the song, I really like it, and I love the way Mycle sings it.

Mycle  won the battle, with no coach stealing Ben Taub.

You can get Mycle’s Version of Too Close here

Team Christina:

A Battle Between: Laura Vivas Vs Beat Frequency

Song Choice was: Lady Gaga’s Poker Face

I know duos do not go far in the voice, but I was hoping Beat Frequency would get past the battles. And from what I saw in the video, I think they did a better job.

Laura won the battle, with no coach stealing Beat Frequency.

You can get Laura’s rendition of Poker Face here.

The Steal!

The Steal in Season 3 changes the game forever!

Here are the Steals for Week 2 of the Battles……

Joselyn Rivera was stolen By Adam Levine from Christina Aguilera, but both Blake and Adam hit their steal buttons, and Joselyn had to choose.

Glad to see that Joselyn will be continuing on, and hope her voice becomes more seasoned.

Terisa Griffin was stolen by CeeLo.

With the battle pairing this week, I’m glad CeeLo stole Terisa, so we can hear more of her amazing voice.

Alessandra Guercio was stolen by Christina, which shocked everyone on the show!

Super happy wth Xtina’s first Steal, as I am a fan of Alessandra’s voice. Can’t wait to see more from her!!!!

The Battles Week 2 Final Thoughts:

In Week 2 I had a few high points, but wayyy too many negatives. Simply because I wanted other artists to win. I’m more happy with Round 4, then Round 3. My top pick of the week is Liz Davis, really loved her performance. Can’t wait to see what happens next week as the Battles will continue…..

  1. I loved this latest episode of The Voice, which was impressive.
One disappointment I had is when Sam was able to beat out Benji and now one
picked him up. I thought he was the better act and it disappointed me. I’ve been
watching The Voice on primetime, once it’s been recorded while I’m at work. One
thing I’ve always hated is when there are too many shows to record and not
enough DVRs to do it with. This headache’s a thing of the past for me since I
upgraded to the Hopper after my coworker at DISH suggested it. I can enable the
PrimeTime Anytime and get all four major networks recorded on one TV. I can say
good bye to the headaches and everyone gets what they want to watch. We can
also play the recordings back at any TV location which makes things easier with
    just one box for everyone.
