The Voice Season 3: The Live Top 6 Performances and Results

The Voice

Season 3

Monday and Tuesday December 3rd and 4th was The Top 6 Performances and Results.

This week was vastly different then any other week on The Voice EVER! Each contestant performed two songs. A song chosen by them, and a coach’s choice song. I’ll be breaking it down as I normally do, but this time with a slightly different format, because of the double songs. There were several performances that the artists had done during the show, you can see those below:

Matchbox 20’s Overjoyed

Team Adam:

Amanda Brown sang the following two songs:

Coach’s Choice: Whitesnake’s Here I Go Again

This was awesome, just simply awesome!!! Absolutely loved Amanda doing another rock song. The tempo was up there, and her vocals really gave you the feeling of a female rocker, rockin’ out!!!

You can get Amanda Brown’s version of Here I Go Again here

Contestant’s Choice: Aretha Franklin’s (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

Once again, Amanda knocked it outta the park!!! This was a very aewsome song choice for her, it goes along with all the other songs she has chosen. Yet at the same time stands out!!!!

You can get Amanda Brown’s version of (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman here

Melanie Martinez sang the following two songs:

Coach’s Choice: Lenka’s The Show

What the fuck song is this again? Even though some might say I’ve hated on Melanie in the past, I gotta give it to her on this. She tried, but I don’t know the song, so I didn’t get into the performance. Adam what the fuck were you thinking picking this song for her?

Contestant’s Choice: Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy

AGAIN STOP PICKING FAST PACED SONGS, that your voice is clearly not meant for. Melanie tortured this cool song by CeeLo and his cohorts in Gnarls Barkley.

Team Blake:

Cassadee Pope sang the following two songs:

Coach’s Choice: Rascal Flatt’s Stand

Once again Cassadee brings my attention to a song I’d never given even one listen to. With each song selection she makes the songs her own. Cassadee also applies the meaning of the song to something in her life.

You can get Cassadee Pope’s version of Stand Here

Contestant’s Choice: Avril Lavigne’s I’m With You

Cassadee Pope will win The Voice Season 3! We have een such a journey with her, in each song selection. With Avril’s I’m With You, she sings a song, that she has always loved and connected with. The performance was great as always!!!

Terry McDermott sang the following two songs:

Coach’s Choice: Rod Stewart’s Stay With Me

That rock god ascension I mentioned last week? Well Terry takes it one step furuther this week. Not only did he sing an amazing rendition of the Rod Stewart classic, he also made me want to see Juliet Simms from Season 2 duet with him on it. Terry will give anyone a run for their money here in Season 3.

You can get Terry McDermott’s version of Stay With Me here

Contestant’s Choice: Foreigner’s I Want To Know What Love Is

Terry this week showed us his more vulernable side. This performance was dedicated to his wife, and I love that! I think that is so great, plus stripping the song down to the bare bones was amazing!!! Just Terry and the piano, that reminded me of seeing Billy Joel live playing Piano Man.

You can get Terry McDermott’s version of I Want To Know What Love Is here

Team CeeLo:

Nicholas David sang the following two songs:

Coach’s Choice: Earth, Wind, and Fire’s September

Nicholas as I’ve said in the past, has always been a soul singer. This time he excels at singing this Earth, Wind, and Fire song.

You can get Nicholas David’s version of September here

Contestant’s Choice: Judy Garland’s Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Nicholas once again, has impressed me this week. I really do like his style of old soul singing. He truly transported the audience and America Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

You can get Nicholas David’s version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow here

Trevin Hunte sang the following two songs:

Coach’s Choice: Katrina and the Waves’ Walking On Sunshine

A fun performance here from Trevin, thank god it wasn’t an Usher song. I enjoyed it, but he’s still not one of my favorites.

You can get Trevin Hunte’s version of Walking On Sunshine Here

Contestant’s Choice: And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going the song from the Dreamgirls musical

VERY POWERFUL rendition of this song. Trevin is showing his higher vocal range here. I enjoyed this more then the other song he sang.

You can get Trevin Hunte’s version of And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going Here

AND.. the results are in!!!!!!!

Amanda and Melanie were the ones that went home this week. I’m VERY HAPPY Melanie is gone, but I felt Amanda was better then Trevin this week. Sadly this means NO WIN for Team Adam this year. So it’s between Teams Blake and CeeLo.

Final Thoughts Top 6 Week:

As we get closer to finding out who will win The Voice Season 3, I’m left wondering how long it will take these artists to get off the ground? I am so hoping Cassadee wins, and all of my favorites from Season 3, I’ll be looking for anything they release. Bring on the Top 4!!!

  1. Cassadee has it in the bag! I told you it would be between Cee-Lo and Blake!!

My Ratings from this week for the Top 6:

    1st: Cassadee – RIDICULOUS!
2nd: Trevin – Kids got mad range even if he’s not my personal favorite
3rd: Terry – love his style of rock
4th: Nicholas – sooo much groovy soul
5th: Melanie –  Sad to see her unique style go – but vocally she can’t stand up to the rest at this point
6th: Amanda – The duet with Cassadee just proved that Amanda can’t quite cut it – she should stick with rock songs though!

    1. Agree on your rankings, do I! Well except for 5 and 6, they need to be reversed. Yeah Cassadee better be The Voice this year. I swear if America votes Trevin to win, I’ll never watch the show again.
