  1. GREAT episode guys!!! Really enjoyed it. So glad Mary has come to the darkside of podcasting!!!!

My habit hindering my heal goals is I make no health goals. LOL……. Seriously though before my mom died…. I was doing everything for her, walking the dog, going grocery shopping all that. So in the last year and a half I’ve gone from 420-425 down to 390ish…. As far as my eating habits, when mom was alive I’d eat with he. I found that as sher health was declining I was eating less and less…. because I just wasn’t hungry. It’s been 5 months since she passed and I find myself now eating something once a day for an actual meal, and then grazing on different snack foods throughout the day.

With where I live now I need to walk 4 blocks to get to the bus stop to get anywhere around town…. It’s a very long 4 blocks…. So I tend to just order from schwans.com which is an online food delivery service. They have a bunch of healthy stuff there. At the same time as Steve mentioned in the podcast the laziness comes into play.

“I’M TOO OLD FOR THIS SHHH…” I prefer meals that are easy to cook either in the oven or the microwave. But I’m working on it. I used to (when my mom was alive) go through FOUR 24 paks of Diet Big K from Kroger every month…. Now I’m drinking soda maybe once or twice a week if that.

Again great first episode can’t wait to hear more.

Mary you are now ONE OF US ONE OF US!!!!

    1. Lol, I know Steve told me how much you wanted me on board. I like it since it is something I am so passionate about.

Congratulations on your weight loss this far. The best thing for you I would suggest is try to get 5 meals in a day. You want to make sure to have your breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then a snack in between. Strive for healthy proteins. Protein is great for your muscles. One thing I know I use to do is eat way too many carbs and sweets. You definitely do not want to cut carbs out completely because our bodies actually need carbs for energy and proper weight loss. I just know grabbing chips, crackers, ect because it is easy is just too many carbs for our bodies. I don’t know how you are with sweets but I really struggle in that department. Our bodies cannot breakdown sugar so it absorbs it and that is what contributes to weight gain. Too many people try to count calories and although calories really do matter all calories are not created equal.

As far as not wanting to prepare meals have you tried meal replacements? I know I had tried them before Advocare and they usually would be chalky and I would have to add milk and ice to even make them edible but the shakes from Advocare are thick and creamy and all you have to do is add water. If you maybe had one for lunch or breakfast they have 24 grams of protein and over 50 vitamins and minerals.

The more weight you loose the less that 4 blocks will feel. As I said in the podcast I couldn’t ride a bike around the block or walk for very long. Now I do crossfit, bootcamps, and the Warrior Dash. lol Cant wait to do more and continue giving more advice. :)

  3. Great inaugural episode guys! As one who use to run his own wellness blog (1UpYourLife.com) It’s good to see others out there kicking it up a notch. I have bounced back and forth so many times, it’s hard to keep track anymore. Back in 2010 I lost a lot of weight. dropping from 322 down to 269 and have been bouncing around 280 – 290 ever since then. Much like you, I have a daughter who is a constant drain on your focus and attention. Not that it’s a bad thing, but it makes for a difficult time trying to lose weight and stay healthy.

Also, I have my lovely wife who I also like to spend time with. The kiddo goes to bed around 8:30 to 9:00pm and bam, it’s couch and TV time. By then, your brain and body are shut down and you just don’t to move. I’d say my definite crutch is sugar, specifically chocolate and pastries. Show me an amazing doughnut and forget it, it’s over. LOL

To answer the habit question, soda. Soda has been my worst enemy since I was kid. There was a time when putting down two Super Big Gulps (Two 64oz.) was no thing. Not to mention any cans of soda I got my hands on during school. back in 2013 I stopped soda and energy drinks altogether and it seemed to help. Unfortunately, they’re back. But definitely don;t consume them like I used to.

I really want to get back on that bandwagon. I think I’ll look into starting a blog myself again. The accountability of it and also weaving it into something I enjoy helps a lot. Good luck to both of you and I look forward to more shows!
