  1. Another good podcast, and three solid He-Man episodes, too. I agree with Kevin about “Evil-Lyn’s Plot” not focusing enough on Evil-Lyn herself. The plot didn’t really seem to warrant the title being such because her plan was nothing particularly out of the ordinary. We’d actually seen her pull this disguise trick before. Paul Dini again does a good job with the writing. The Widgets voices were kinda off-putting and character designs were sort of lazy, but I ended up enjoying the episode. The Coridite plotline made for an interesting episode, and knowing that it ties into He-Man power-shield was a nice touch, giving us some backstory that does little more than tease us without making any true revelations. Hopefully they revisit this later. Like Mike, I also thought that the He-Man shield was sort of weird, but this is Paul Dini writing, and it’s understandable that he might throw this in as an homage to Batman. I forgive it, and I bet kids probably thought it was cool back in the day. A solid episode. Very entertaining. 4 Orkos

”Dawn Of Dragoon” I remember watching this one, and I believe I even watched it with commentary on the DVDs once. That, or it was covered in the special features because the production team talked about the decision to not show Dree Elle’s face. Kevin is right. This is how you tell a love story in a boy’s action cartoon. I think it just worked. Dragoon was a good villain as well. It was good to see that he talked and he wasn’t just fodder for He-Man to sling around. I’ll be watching for more shows written by Robby London, who I don’t recognize as a writer for other animated shows. 5 Orkos

“Prince Adam No More” was good, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other two. It was good to see He-Man’s struggle with his alter-ego. This made me wonder…which identity is real? He-Man or Prince Adam? It’s sort of like the Bruce Wayne/Batman argument that Batman is the real personality and Bruce Wayne is the facade. 3 1/2 Orkos

I can’t remember which episode it was, but the He-Man wrist water cannon was terrible. I believe it was in “Evil-Lyn’s Plot.” I cringe at moments like that in the series. Or when He-Man suddenly pulls 300 ft of rope out of his shorts. I do somewhat forgive the water cannon because at least it was used later to save Orko, but it was just a bad idea.

Also, the runaway cart. Did you notice that the boy caught up with that cart really fast? It seemed like He-Man stopped it and right away the boy was quick to follow. I’d have to watch it again, but I remember thinking that, and I may have just missed a cut or something to indicate the passing of time.

This has been a fun journey so far and I’m looking forward to getting into the other series in the coming year. Happy Holidays!
