  1. So, I pretty much agree with your assessments of the two episodes I have watched “The Sleepers Awaken” and “Return of the Gryphon” I fell asleep watching “The Return of Grannymyr” so I will get to it tonight.

So, “The Sleepers Awaken” …I enjoyed it. Like you, it was sort of middle-of-the-road overall, but I thought the plot was good and I did like the characters. I agree with Kevin’s rating, 3.5 Orkos

“Return of Gryphon” was just awful. Again, I am agreeing with you. The kid was incredibly annoying, there were numerous issues with the execution of the plot, with Trap Jaw and Beast Man showing up at the beginning for little reason and never appearing again. As you pointed out, they just toss the crystal behind some shrubs and run off. I wonder if this decision is to be blamed on the producers/directors/Filmation and not the writer? I could definitely seeing small things like this being done to save money. For instance, the writer may have written the episode to say that the crystal is hidden inside a wall, thrown into a ravine, or buried, but the producers come in and insist that it will cost more time/money to do whatever was written, so they insist let’s have the characters just toss the crystal behind a bush because that it easier to do. Just a thought. But still, it was lazy, and it shows. In general the animation had some issues. There were some odd expressions used throughout and proportions varied from scene to scene. In some shots the kid seems to be much taller. There is one scene in which he is walking away from the camera so we only seem him from the rear and his legs are as long as an adult man’s. I figure this is also due to laziness and cost-cutting on the part of Filmation, who used rotoscoped footage of an adult to animate the scene rather than adjusting it to fit the proportions of the boy. In fact, I believe perspective was completely abandoned in that scene, as I felt the boy got taller as he progressed further from the camera. And speaking of the boy, yes he was annoying. Everything about him was unlikeable. I was so bored with this episode. That is probably why I feel asleep for “The Return of Grannymyr” and I was looking forward to that episode because the first appearance of that character was so intriguing and it made for an above-average episode. I look forward to watching it tonight. Oh, one othe thing, the Grypon design was terrible. Usually the character designs in He-Man are pretty good, but this was another case of sloppiness. Rating: 1 Orko

    1. you fell asleep during the return of granny? HOW WHY? it was the best ep of the day! Thanks for listening!!!! Glad someone still does lol

      1. I figured it would be the best episode. Honestly, I was just exhausted last night. I am happy to know it won’t be a disappointing episode though. I have been a little behind since I have so much to watch right now. It is taking me a little longer to watch the episodes before I listen to the podcast, which is how I typically do it. You guys make a great team and I like the show format. I’ll be here through the entire run. It is a long way off, but I am looking forward to the Cartoon Network He-Man series since I only watched a few episodes of it.

        1. Yea that should be fun! I’m looking forward to Season 2 of He-Man and the entire She-Ra series since I barely remember those from my childhood!
