How to Pack Action Figures, Figurines and Other Collectibles Without Damage

Regardless of if you are moving across the country or just wanting to pack up your collectibles for safe keeping, it is important that you pack your valuables with special care. Packing up collectibles such as action figures or breakable figurines requires a more cautious approach than other types of packing protocols. Here are three tips on how to pack action figures, figurines, and other collectibles without worrying about damage:

Wrap Items Individually

The last thing that you want to do when packing your action figures and collectibles is to throw them in a box haphazardly. Taking the time to wrap each item individually will ensure its protection and safe transport. Fortunately, there are a variety of packing materials that are available to make this job easier. Depending on the item that you are wrapping, you can use bubble wrap, acid-free packing paper, foam peanuts, and more. Be sure to include a layer of paper on the top of the box to protect the items when the box is opened with a knife.

Choose the Right Size Box

Moving boxes generally come in four sizes: small, medium, large, and extra-large. When packing up your collectibles, be careful not to stuff too much into one box. Heavy items should be placed in smaller boxes. Lighter items can be placed in bigger boxes. There are also specially designed boxes with dividers that help you to organize and pack breakables and transport them more efficiently. It is also recommended to choose acid-free boxes if your valuables might be altered by the presence of acid.

Ship Only When Absolutely Necessary

While it may be tempting to leave the moving of your valuables to the professional shipping services or movers, it is a more prudent idea to move the boxes yourself. Even under the most ideal conditions, there is a myriad of things that can go wrong when you let your collectibles out of your sight. While you may receive monetary compensation if an item is damaged or lost, it will likely not replace the sentimental value of what you lost. In this case, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Your valuables deserve to be packed with special care and attention. By following the right packing protocols, you can move and store any of your cherished items with the ultimate peace of mind.
