TFG1MIKE 365 – 2019 Day 1
Happy New Year – New Years Celebrations and Resolutions!
Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! I’m writing this New Years Day 2019. The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my first entry, since I’m writing it New Years Day… I wanna talk about New Years Celebrations and Resolutions. I was born in 1980, and growing up in the 80s and 90s, we always had some sort of kid friendly New Years Eve party, and made some sort of resolution. In all honesty as a kid, and as an adult I have pretty much never kept up with my resolutions. Nowadays I don’t even remember the last time I made a New Years resolution. Hell I don’t even remember the last time I went to a New Years Eve party.
When I was a kid the celebration was playing Poker or Rummy until midnight with my family. In the morning on New Years Day… we would always watch The Three Stooges marathon on WSBK 38 in Boston. It was me and my Mom’s ritual every year until 1993. From 1993 into 1994, and beyond… I can’t remember a single memorable New Years party kinda thing. I think somewhere in 1996 or 1997 at the time there might have been some sort of party at whatever group home I was in. As the years have gone by, my memory of such things has faded. Even within my faded memory, I do remember watching Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve a few years. Nowadays with Mr. Clark no longer with us, if I was gonna watch an NYE TV thing it would be the NBC one with Carson Daly, over Ryan Seacrest at the Rockin’ Eve. I’m glad they still call the thing Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, but kinda meh on the whole with Ryan Seacrest thing. In my personal opinion Carson Daly is a much better host than Ryan Seacrest!
My wife Karen and I have spent two New Years together at this point. 2017 into 2018, and now 2018 into 2019. This year we didn’t do much, and the first new years we spent together… I think we watched one of the ball dropping ceremony’s on TV, but so much happened in 2018 that I can’t remember! The way I think most people view New Years Eve and New Years Day is that it’s a reset for everyone. From everything that happened in 2018 to whatever might happen to us here in the New Year of 2019. I had felt very depressed at the end of 2018, but somehow with the New Year being here… I feel like there is a bit more hope than I had at the end of the previous year. I feel weirdly recharged to get a ton of stuff done around the house and in my podcasting craft.
What are some of your New Years Celebrations and Resolutions let me know in the comments below!
Join me tomorrow morning January 2, 2019 as I’ll be writing about the 25th Anniversary of the Viper TV series from 1994!
