TFG1MIKE 365 – 2019 Day 19

PUPPY POWER!!!

Scrappy Doo Loves You Too!

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 19th entry, I’ll be talking about everyone’s FAVORITE fun lovin’ pup SCRAPPY DOO!

EDITOR’S NOTE: Ten years ago TFG1Mike started THE GREAT SCRAPPY DOO DEBATE! When he as the Co-Creator of The GCRN, wrote up a post saying that the network opinion was the same as his. His opinion is and was that Scrappy is AWESOME! Steve Megatron the other Co-Creator of the network, then wrote up a short rebuttal of said opinion. That was ten years ago, and those posts have been lost to the void of time and space! This NEW post is not to start a NEW debate, and it’s Mike’s OWN opinion, not the opinion of the network. PLEASE though read on, and see why he thinks Scrappy Doo is a character we needed back in the 80s!

Yes thank you Mr. Editor sir, I do think Scrappy Doo was an awesome character! I’m specifically speaking of the classic animated version. That 2002 film was crap. Growing up watching Scooby Doo… I found it interesting that they introduced a fearless character. Seriously we all know, because we have all seen that Scooby and Shaggy are cowards. They run more than The Flash does! So in my mind introducing a character to give the opposite action is very cool. Some might say Scrappy is annoying as Film Flam, but he’s not. First off Film Flam was a kid character introduced for 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, whereas Scrappy was Scooby’s nephew! So the creators kept it in the family. There’s even an episode of Scooby and Scrappy Doo that shows Scrappy’s birth. Scrappy is that kid character that the adults, both human, and dog… have to hold back at certain times. Yes no one should run into danger, but Scrappy doing so shows he isn’t afraid to face the situation.

As a kid of the 80s, this hey I need to face my fears kinda thing worked for me. Scrappy in my eyes was standing up to bullies, yes ghosts can be bullies! Before I wrote this post, I watched several Scooby and Scrappy cartoons on Boomerang’s app. There’s nothing wrong with Scrappy’s character, he’s super upbeat and positive. I think we all need that kind of attitude. I’m saying this now, as I know I can be very negative. Scrappy added a whole new dynamic to the Scooby team, and in most of the Scooby and Scrappy episodes it’s just Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy. Fred, Velma, and Daphne are no where to be seen. Although Velma would be added back later.

I remember watching these Scooby cartoons as a kid, and just having a smile on my face every time that opening theme started up. It was a simpler time back then, and nowadays Scrappy isn’t even used, other than to make fun of him! Scrappy’s life matters too ya know!

Is Scrappy yay or nay for you? Give me reasons why or why not! Let me know in the comments below!

Join me tomorrow morning January 20, 2019 as I’ll be writing about why you should RESPECT THE BACK!
