The Super Bowl!

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 34th entry, I’ll be talking about THE SUPER BOWL!

No photo description available.

I was born in 1980, that year was Super Bowl XIV, where the Pittsburgh Steelers faced the LA Rams. The Steelers won that year, but I never really paid attention to the Super Bowl, the NFL, or my hometown team the New England Patriots. In 1986 the Patriots lost in Super Bowl XX, and they wouldn’t be back in the big game until 1997 in Super Bowl XXXI, as they faced the Green Bay Packers, and lost. I remember exactly where I was at that time. I was in Ten Broeck Hospital in Louisville, KY. This was during the years I was a ward of the state. Luckily we were able to watch the big game. Sadly the Patriots lost, but this was the real time I started paying attention to them, the NFL, and The Super Bowl. I did however follow Troy Aikman and the Dallas Cowboys for their Super Bowl XXVII and XXVIII wins, loved that Dallas team back then.

For the past 18 years the New England Patriots have been on a streak with not only getting to the Super Bowl, but winning it 6 times, and losing 5 times. Before they won Super Bowl LIII today, they were 5-5 at winning and losing the big game. I hear a lot of HATRIOTS out there saying that winning 5 times and appearing 9 or more times in the last 20 years is too much from one team. Has no one heard of the damn New York Yankees and the 27 championships they have? I look at a 5-5 or now a 6-5 record and think, wow they do great things, and I love the team, but that ain’t so good. Win or lose I love the Patriots, I was raised the right way, being from Boston originally. We are now a city of champions between the four major sports teams! It’s a dynasty that everyone from Massachusetts is proud of!

The Super Bowl isn’t just about MY team winning, nor is it just about any of the other teams winning. It’s about gathering together with friends, family, and others, to have a kick ass party, while watching the NFL’s ultimate showdown! There have been plenty of years when the Patriots weren’t even in the big game, and I’ve still watched, because not only do I like watching the game, there are the commercials! The ads this year were a bit, I dunno, underwhelming, and that half time show was boring as hell. However I still think the Super Bowl is a gathering for many, whether you are just there for the food, or you are there for the game itself.

What are your Super Bowl traditions? Let me know in the comments below!

Join me tomorrow morning February 4, 2019 as I’ll be writing about stuff that came out 35 Years Ago!

“Hatriots Gonna Hate!” – TFG1Mike 2019

“What do we do about the haters? We love ‘em,” said Brady. “We love them back, because we don’t hate back. We appreciate it, we love them, and we wish them the best in their life.” – Tom Brady on media day before Super Bowl LIII
