TFG1MIKE 365 – 2019 Day 44
Java No Bother
Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 44th entry, I’ll be talking about COFFEE!
When I was a kid and I’d stay with my grandparents, my Grandfather always got up at 5AM with a hot pot of coffee. He would even let me have a sip or two, I was between 4 and 8 years old at the time. As far as I can remember Grandpa drank his coffee black, with two sugars or less. My grandmother drank hers with milk and 2 sugars. These were my Mom’s parents, and my grandfather’s pride and joy was his vegetable garden. He’d work in that garden every day all day long, and I used to help him. I was the corn catcher, he’d pull em up, and toss them to me. I’d have a basket in my arms and would run around catching the corn. He grew many other things in the garden as well. Green and yellow beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, radishes, and so much more. Grandpa always said that he needed that morning coffee to get his day started, and to give him the energy to work in the garden as much as he did.
Even though I drank coffee with my grandfather as a kid, growing up… I never really gravitated towards drinking it all the time. I always preferred Diet Coke over coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why people drink the stuff, but I’m just not a coffee flavor kinda guy. From 2015 to 2017 when I was living at the apartment complex I found after my Mom died, they would have a coffee hour once a week from 8am to 9am. They had other things available to drink besides coffee, but the general appeal of this was to meet your fellow neighbors. I did try drinking coffee again during this time, but I never really HAD to have it. For a hot beverage, I prefer hot chocolate. The funny thing about coffee with me is I love the smell, but sometimes the taste, I just can’t get past it.
Don’t get me started on the whole Starbucks triple foam, half calf, mocha frappe whatever thing Starbucks drinkers order… I understand and respect the coffee drinkers of the world. I just don’t get why you’d spend more than 2 bucks on a cup of coffee…?? Someone wanna explain that to me? Do you NEED Coffee every day or are you like me, a non coffee drinker?
