Tantric’s NEW Album Mercury Retrograde

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 71st entry, I’ll be talking about the new album that the band Tantric released last year. It’s called Mercury Retrograde, and it rocks a lot!

Over the 25 years I lived in Louisville, KY… I had pride in certain areas of being there. Music is one of them, and boy was I pleasantly surprised to find out that Tantric put out a new album last year. I think the last full album I listened to from the band was 2008’s “The End Begins” I love three tracks from the self titled album, which are Breakdown, Mourning, and Astounded, I love almost all the tracks from “The End Begins” album, and Hero from the “After We Go” album. I guess you can say I’m a casual fan of the band, however this new album kicks ass!

For those not in the know… “Tantric is an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The group was founded in 1998 by former Days of the New members Todd Whitener, Jesse Vest and Matt Taul, who added frontman, Hugo Ferreira, the following year. Ferreria is the only remaining member of the band from the original lineup. Altogether Tantric has released six studio albums and one EP”

So within the last week of discovering this, I’ve been going back to my favorite tracks from them. I’ve also had the new album on repeat. Even after all these years Hugo’s voice is still amazing to me, and the feel of this album is a combination of hard rockin’ tunes, and a few slower ballad songs.

My go to tracks after a week of listening to this new album are Angry, Tether, Get Em All, Lie Awake, The Last Stumble, and Letting Go. What I love about this album is how well the track list melds into itself. Each track is placed perfectly, and the mix of the hard and soft tunes works well.

Are you or have you been a fan of Tantric since the beginning, or are you just discovering them now? Let me know in the comments below.

Join me tomorrow morning March 13, 2019 as I’ll be writing about the pressures of being a writer.
