The Pressures of Writing

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 72nd entry, I’ll be talking about the pressures of writing and being a writer. Hey looky there, I made it to 72 days straight of getting this daily blog thing done. Even though I have fallen behind several times, I’m still doing this thing!

On Day 5 of 2019, I wrote about “The Writer in Me.” Now I want to explore the pressures behind being a writer. Honestly doing this daily blog thing hasn’t been as therapeutic as I thought it might. In the beginning I thought that I would make it a part of my morning routine, and half the time I’m either up late at night, trying to catch up on missed days, or not wanting to do it at all. However in this huge experiment that I set out for myself, I want to stick with it, because giving up is way too easy. There are some days when a topic pops into my mind fairly easily, and I can sit, and write about it. Then there are those days where I can’t think of anything that I want to commit to “paper”, or the internet. There have been some days when I’d see or hear a story online, on the radio, or TV… where I’m like, “YEAH I have an opinion on this! I wanna write about it!” Opinions like the Diet Coke Napkins at Delta Airlines or Orange Vanilla Coke! And then there are the days where nothing is really worth writing about.

In this 365 series I have incorporated a few reviews into the writing. With my entries talking about the new Weezer and the new Tantric albums, as well as my future ongoing TV series talk on every season of Beverly Hills, 90210. I’ve already written up my thoughts on Season 1, and I’m currently watching Season 2 as I write this. Admittedly these pressures I am talking about are self imposed. I mean I am the “publisher” here, there are no heads above mine, but a daily deadline is very tough on any writer. The real funny thing about all of this is that it seems Sunday mornings are the best days and times for me to be creative and catch up on the days of writing that I’ve missed.

I am writing this series for myself, but also deep down… I hope that some of my ten year online fanbase is reading them. I know everyone won’t read every entry, because that’s a lot of reading, however I do know some read depending on the topic title. I just hope the more serious ones I write, a ton of people will read them. These serious topics I’m referring to include Reading, Suicide, Dealing with Depression, Home Ownership, and many more. Writing will always be in my blood, but next year I might do do a “TFG1Mike 52 Weeks” kinda series… I think I can handle writing one post a week more than 365 entries in a whole year. Well I’m off to write days 73 and 74.

Are you a writer? Are you a creator? What are the best times for you to create? What stops you from creating the stuff you want on the timetable that you either lay out for yourself, or meeting a deadline? Let me know in the comments below.

Join me tomorrow morning March 14, 2019 as I’ll be writing about PIE DAY!
