6 Hours of Star Wars!
Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my 77th entry, I’ll be talking about Star Wars, and the SIX HOURS of podcasting we here at The GCRN did! Yeah you read that right, between the Original Trilogy, the Prequels, and Spaceballs… Those three podcasts add up to 6:41:24, that’s a long time to be talking about one franchise!
I’m pretty sure we did record MWIRE 75 Parts I and II all in one night, and then we recorded Spaceballs a week later. I remember the night we recorded the Original Trilogy, and the Prequels feeling like a never ending recording session, because at 6 hours… of course it was. I think all of us kinda cracked up at the end of that session. It was me, Steve Megatron, OptimusSolo, and Birdman Dodd! With Birdman there, of course we ended up cracking up, because he probably said or did something to make us go off the deep end! These three podcasts were recorded and released after Thanksgiving, and before Christmas 2010. Generally as a unspoken rule, I tend to cut back or completely stop podcasting for two months after Halloween each year. My thinking is… I’ve put ten months of hard work in, I need 2 months to recharge for the next year’s content. However when we recorded these episodes, it was the only time the four of us had the time to get together to record them. Let’s just say that this was the GCRN listeners Christmas present for 2010. I remember very little from the recording session, but I believe this is the time they all ganged up on me behind my back! Hahaha!
We have also covered The Force Awakens and Rogue One in MWIRE 135. I’m sure the CINEMA GEEKS have talked about The Last Jedi somewhere… Steve Megatron and Michael Powers did talk about Last Jedi on ALTERED GEEK! There even was a GeekCast Radio discussion on Ranking the 6 Star Wars films at the time, plus GCRN WarZ Star Wars Vs Star Trek! So in The GCRN’s ten year history, we sure have talked about Star Wars a lot! Granted we have talked Transformers a helluva lot more then that. Still Star Wars is one of our beloved franchises. That I’m sure we’ll talk about until the Mouse decides to kill it, which you know they won’t. Granted we most likely will never do a 6 hour recording session again on the Star Wars franchise, but it’ll be in the rotation of topics we talk about.
Star Wars tell me your thoughts on the franchise… Sound off in the comments below.
Join me tomorrow morning March 19, 2019 as I’ll be writing about Superman!
