New Years Notes
Hello all and welcome back to TFG1Mike 365! When I started this in January of 2019, the idea was for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. Sadly there were moments in 2019 that it was very difficult to keep up the daily writing. However I’m very proud of the writing I did that year. You can find all the blogs over at FROM THE DESK OF TFG1Mike! I’ve written a few things here and there through 2020, 2021, and 2022, but generally I’ve been fully focused on the audio podcasting. As always I need my computer, my keyboard, my headphones, and music blaring in said headphones… In order for me to zone out, tune into what I wanna write! And yes dear reader, you are not mistaken, the title of this blog, is the same as it was on New Years Day in 2019! I figured it could be a whole yearly series, so I’m calling it New Years Notes every year from now on. You can read 2019’s New Years Notes HERE! A LOT has changed since that write up!
I said I wrote a few things in 2021 and 2022, and here are some highlights:
Remembering Derrick Ferguson – Better In The Light! – We all lost a great man, a great friend in April of 2021. This was my tribute to him. This was also the first thing I wrote in 2021.
13 Years of TFG1Mike – The Podcast Machine! – At the time I’d been trying to write this for my 10th anniversary of being a podcaster in 2018, well that didn’t happen, and in 2021 I faced the 13 Podcasters of TFG1Mike!!! Trying to keep up with writing something is difficult, when you have started, but never finished.
100 Hours of WORK for The Top 100 Transformers Characters Countdown! – Looking back it might just be the ultimate piece of podcasting work I’ve ever done. And with a name like TFG1Mike, this might be the one thing I’m remembered for. BAH WEEP GRAAAAAGNAH WHEEP NI NI BONG!!!!!

The GCRN Origins – Getting Stories From Any Fans That We Can!!! – The “Origins” Series started inside The Pull Bag on March 20, 2013 when Steve/Megatron and I recorded and released TPB Episode 003. You can hear that HERE! Then you can hear us in the REBRAND of TPB Origins that we did in 2020! The Origins has now expanded into multiple other podcasts, we have questions about Comics, Toy Collecting, Cartoon watching, Podcasting, and more! In 2023 I’m hoping to start a VIDEO GAMES Origins series.
3 Years Since Brain Surgery! – I wrote up a little something to get me back into the swing of this writing thing. This was reflecting on the years since I had brain surgery in 2019!
Then I wrote about the first Spider-Man film, as we were in #TheSummerOfSpiderMan! over on Studio 2009!
And finally the last one I wanna highlight is WHY I NEVER CARED ABOUT JASON TODD…. UNTIL NOW!!!! – Oh boy oh joy! The simple and spoiler filled answer to this is I was only 8 years old when the call in live or die campaign happened. So I never really paid attention to it. And I was a “CARTOON KID!” not a “COMICS KID!” But please go read why I kinda like Jason Todd NOW!!!
I didn’t wanna bury the lead on this, but in late 2021 my lovely Karen unexpectedly passed away, so at the end of 2022 I finally put together the recorded clips I had of us. We never did a full on podcast ep or series, but these moments are great to hear again. My entire world was rocked with her death, and I’m still recovering…. not that you can recover truly from losing the love of your life, but you understand what I’m trying to say. She even dyed her hair purple for me!!!!
So it’s NEW YEARS DAY 2023, and it’s time for me to hit that RESET button! As I attempted to do in 2019. I’m going to attempt to write one blog post per day for the next 365 days. From January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. I am not sure I’m ready for everything 2023 might offer, but my hope is renewed with a new year. I’m looking forward to all the writing, I’m hoping to accomplish, and all the podcasts I plan to do between now and December 2023! The Pull Bag is at 502 episodes, my plan (hopefully) is to get it to 600 episodes by the end of the year. As for the rest of the podcasting things, well you’ll just haveta tune in and find out what The GCRN will be doing in it’s 14th year online! June 1, 2023 marks 14 Years of The GeekCast Radio Network!
