10 Years Of Altered Geek!
Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! The idea here is for me to write something, anything, once a day for 365 days. From January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. In my 214th entry, I’ll be giving an outsider’s look into a podcast here on The GCRN! Ten Years Ago today Steve/Megatron Phillips and Michael BoothNinja81 Powers debuted ALTERED GEEK!!
This is and was Steve’s brainchild. It was him and Michael Powers in the beginning, and it will always be them. I come along here and there…
They started with THE BATMAN SUPERMAN BATTLES! This was back in the beginning when ALTERED GEEK was UNPLUGGED!
Continuing on with the AG UNPLUGGED, this was one of the ones I enjoyed re-listening to It was all about Geek News at The time, Geek Snacks, and WB JLA. Listen HERE! Then there was this episode where Mike and Steve talked about Feedback, Awards, GrandCon, and Podcasting! I am digging listening back to these!
Then Altered Geek went UNLIMITED with a mystery host for the first unlimited episode! We always CALLED IT WHAT IT IS on Altered Geek!! Check me out filling in on this episode right HERE! LOL! And then there was that time that THE POD KNIGHT RISES! No audio issues here folks, but we are short a person this week. GASP, a SOLO Show?! How could this be? Steve “Megatron” gives you AGU in a much leaner, meaner, and cleaner episode!!
At The End of January 2014, they said LEGO MY PODCATCHER! And then they went from the Art to the Booth! Ahhhhh yes, the old days return with the free-flowing conversations! These were so fun! Then there was the time we went REMOTE CONTROL! I forgot I was on that one! Which was a fun re-listen, and after a decade it surprises me what has happened in the last ten years that I barely remember. Then there was This Is 40, DC, and Marvel TV! Homeownership talk and more can be heard HERE! This Delorean Time I’m on re-listening to the podcast is bringing back some awesome memories!
I don’t remember what the episode number was, but here’s the 1 Year of AG-AGU episode, surprisingly we were Booth less! Listen HERE! Man, soooo many memories!
Episode 100 was the 2-Year Anniversary Show!!
Episode 150 was the 3 Years of Geekdom!

And in June of this year, we had A POWERFUL RETURN! As we are on a bi-weekly release schedule again, and Michael Powers has come back!!! In 10 Years of Altered Geek, I see how Steve has quite literally “Altered” the trajectory of the podcast, and everything I’ve listened to in prep for this writing is still so damn good. All the links I’ve highlighted here are episodes I really enjoyed revisiting.
As I’m writing this without Steve’s input, I will say that I think he has crafted a podcast that is truly his style, and even though at times he may not feel that way, I can safely say that he is the one and only ALTERED GEEK! I hope this helps him forge the next ten years of the podcast as myself and Michael Powers will be a long for the ride! At least I think we will…..
