Podcasting, I’m In No Rush!!!!!
^Found on Google!
Hello all and welcome back to TFG1Mike 365! It’s Day 4 of 2023!!! New Year brings new hopes and dreams to all of us I think. In case you haven’t read any of my blogs before, you can find all the blogs over at FROM THE DESK OF TFG1Mike! Normally my goal with this series is to wake up each new day, and find something on the internet, or in real life to write about.
Attention Podcast Fans it is I, TFG1Mike… And I’m here to tell you why I’m not in any rush to be “THE FIRST” to podcast about a topic, or to be “THE FIRST” to get the podcasts published. I’ve been podcasting for 14 years now, and I’m not tired of it, but I do not and have never seen podcasting as a rat race of doing the work to get an episode online. What I am tired of is being tired, and I’m taking my sweet ass time in getting every episode I work on done, so it can be the best I can get it to sound!
I’m not a fan of podcast content that has to be “UP TO THE MINUTE, AND RIGHT THE HELL NOW!” Podcasting isn’t Radio, and it never has been. Thank God! I like taking my time, planning, and coming up with the best of the best episodes, podcasts, podcast series, podcast projects I can.
Also I have the time, and take the time to go super in depth on the editing, and now after all these years that I’ve been podcasting, I’m finally a multi track vocal editor. For me after say a normal episode of ATTF, Altered Geek, GCR, ToonCast etc etc is done the recording, I will then take a whole day to edit that multi voice track into one single track. Because that normally takes a day (7am ET 5pm ET with breaks), I will rest for the evening/night, and get up the next day to finish up the polishing, the alignment of the intro and any clips that need to be added in. After that I get it online, and do the promotion. Lately the podcasts have been running so smoothly, that I know where edits need to be made, so my process has sped up slightly, sometimes I can get two whole shows edited in a day. That’s only sometimes though.
As far as the title of today’s entry, as I said above I have never understood the rat race of getting there first with podcasting, because every audience is different, and not every audience listens to every show. Whether that’s on The GCRN or other networks or even individual podcasts. We all are different, and that’s what makes the podcast landscape so vast and wonderful. You can hear opinions from everyone that you wanna hear them from. We all find podcasts in different ways, and those podcasts all have differences between them. Whether that’s the format and style to how many hosts are there and everything in between. I will either record an episode on “insert topical topic or review show here” early before everyone else, or I will wait until I feel that we can offer a fresh take on said topic.
Join me tomorrow morning January 5, 2023 as I’ll be writing about my PODCAST LISTENERSHIP, and how I listen to podcasts!
