Review: Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales

Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales

I don’t understand why Cars gets a bad wrap from Pixar fans. In my opinion Ratatouille is the only mark against Pixar. However that would be an entirely different blog post. I never got into Cars when it first got released. I eventually saw it on TV and loved it. Then Disney Channel started airing Mater’s Tall Tales. Say what you want about Larry the Cable Guy’s adult comedy act I love him as Mater. So Mater’s Tall Tales is basically little adventures that Mater and Lightning McQueen went on in the past. These are very funny shorts today we saw the release of a DVD for these. The DVD has all 9 Tall Tales which includes three never before seen ones. Here’s all the shorts on the DVD:

Tokyo Mater

UFM- Unidentified Flying Mater

Mater the Greater

Rescue Squad Mater

El Materdor

Monster Truck Mater

New Shorts:

Mater Private Eye

Moon Mater

Heavy Metal Mater* Wiki notes that this episode aired first on Disney.com before Disney Channel and Disney XD.

I really love these cartoon shorts. They are quick funny little blurbs with Mater and Company and everyone should add the DVD to your collection. I don’t necessarily believe you need to have watched the Cars film, but it might help enhance the enjoyment of these. My favorites are Tokyo Mater, Heavy Metal Mater, UFM, and Moon Mater. I’m unsure of any other cameos of other Pixar Characters other than Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc:

All in all I truly love these shorts as I’ve said. The animation is very well done. I can’t wait to see Cars 2!!! If I’m lyin’ I’m cryin’!!!

  1. As I said to you in skype I’ll never watch any film where a rat is preparing food for humans that is nasty!! That movie needs to die. However it does take place in France so I’m not surprised that the Frenxch would eat food from a rat.
