TFG1Mike’s DVD Reviews:

Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales

So when I saw the news that this cartoon was coming out, I just had to get it to review. As a kid I always loved watching Tennessee Tuxedo, probably because it was Don Adams doing the voice. However I did learn a lot watching this cartoon. The greatest part of Tennessee was that it taught you educational items through the comedy of the series. Whether that was Tennessee and Chumbly getting into trouble, and having to consult Phineas J. Whoopie, or figuring stuff out on their own.

On March 6, 2012 Shout Factory and Classic Media released Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales The Complete Collection on DVD.

All 70 episodes of Tennessee Tuxedo are in this DVD set, as well as The King and Odie, and The Hunter. Rounding out this 6 DVD set they added episodes of Tooter Turtle, and Klondike Kat. This is truly a classic collection of Total Television Animation.  The presentation on the Tennesee cartoons is great when it comes to the picture quality. I find that The King and Odie, as well as The Hunter the picture quality goes down dramatically.

Bonus Features Include:

7 Commentaries with with voice actors Larry Starch and Bradley Bolke, co-creator Buck Biggers, and author Mark Arnold.

Featurette: Tennessee Tuxedo Never Fails

Bumpers, Openings, and Closings

The set also includes a DVD booklet that has The History of Tennessee Tuxedo written By Mark Arnold.

All in all this is a very nice set to have, and I’ve always been a firm believer in being able to have these classic cartoons on DVD. If you grew up watching the syndicated reruns of this cassic series I’d say that this is worth adding to your DVD collection.
