TFG1MIKE 365 – 2019 Day 3

Adam Levine and The Voice Season 15 Debacle

Hello all and welcome to a NEW Daily Blog series from me… TFG1Mike! I’m writing this every morning of everyday in 2019. From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. In my third entry, I’ll be talking about Adam Levine and The Voice Season 15 Debacle. Let me start out by saying that I’ve been watching The Voice since Season 2. I have been a fan since that second season. There have been times when I’d drop out from watching after the Knockouts, but I try my best to watch through every season. Most of the time when I drop off watching the hit NBC singing competition is if any of my favorite singers get sent home. YES I know that’s the point of the show, but when you have no one left that you are interested in seeing… then why watch it? My wife Karen and I have watched two and a half seasons of The Voice together, and it has never been more evident than right now that Adam Levine is a Maroon of 1.

In Season 14 Kelly Clarkson joined the coaches panel on The Voice. She won her first season with Brynn Cartelli, and in Season 15 Kelly became the first back to back winning coach, as Chevel Shepard took it home for Team Kelly! I point this out, because after Season 13… I was very sour on the show. Then they announced that Kelly would be a coach in Season 14. I think Kelly brings a new flare to the show. Honestly since about Season 6 I’ve hoped that Adam and Blake would switch out the coaching gig with others. Sadly that hasn’t been the case. For those of you that don’t know the controversy in Season 15 of The Voice, you can read about it from The Washington Post and PEOPLE. You can also see why The Voice has an Adam Levine problem over on The Loop, as well as some tweets about the whole thing. Adam hasn’t won a season of the show since he did it with Jordan Smith in Season 9.

So the Top 10 Performances and Eliminations happened December 3rd and 4th last year. Dave Fenley from Team Blake, along with Reagan Strange, and DeAndre Nico from Team Adam were in the bottom three. This means for those that might not know… that all three singers have to perform to get instant save votes! Apparently Reagan was “sick”, and she was shown sitting backstage in a bathrobe. I thought I read in one article that it turned out to be performance anxiety, which I could be wrong on that. IF that was the case, it’s understandable on her part, however we the viewers should only be voting for the ones we see perform. We saw amazing things from Dave and Deandre, we saw nothing from Reagan because she was “sick”! I have a problem with Adam promoting someone that didn’t even perform over someone who did, but really where the problem lies is in The Voice’s rules. After I read about the controversy online, I went and watched the episode on Hulu. Adam clearly threw DeAndre Nico under the bus, his words are his fault, but the bigger question is why did The Voice staff let this happen? There have been times in past seasons where contestants have chosen to leave the show, that is their choice obviously. In all the time I’ve watched the show… I’ve always seen every artist get equal time on stage to be praised or critiqued. Yet on the December 4th show back in 2018… Adam threw over Nico in the urging to vote part of the instant save for Reagan. Let that sink in… ADAM LEVINE THREW ONE OF HIS OWN TEAM MEMBERS OVER FOR ANOTHER! I could maybe understand if it was Adam Versus one of the other coaches, because he wants to win. However not urging people to vote for the artist they saw perform…that’s messed up.

My wife has pointed out to me, and I guess I knew it deep down, but never really paid attention it, that Adam Levine is a “LOOK AT ME AND ONLY ME” attention whore. If you listen or watch any of the TEAM ADAM performances with he and his team singing together… you’ll notice he starts off the songs, and has the most singing in them. Maybe not in Rhiannon, but I have noticed it in others lately.

Next Season John Legend will join the coaches, and dammit I was hoping he’d replace Adam, but nooopppeee!  What was your reaction to Adam Levine’s controversial words on The Voice Season 15 Top 10 Eliminations? Let me know in the comments below!

Join me tomorrow morning January 4, 2019 as I’ll be writing about something personal.
