INJUSTICE GODS AMONG US

I BLAME STEVE/MEGATRON FOR THESE REVIEWS!!!!!! At the same time he was right in the fact that I should read these books!!! Injustice Gods Among Us is apparently an ongoing series leading up to the game.

Based on DC’s latest highly anticipated video game from the makers of Mortal Kombat!

This prequel explains the events leading up to the start of this epic game!

I’ve always loved the Justice League. Well the cartoon series anyway. And after the review Steve Megatron gave in GeekCast Radio Special Episode Batman 17 of InJustice Gods Among Us #1 and #2 I knew I HAD to read these comics AND WOW were they good. Let us start by getting the general info outta the way:

Issue #1

Injustice Gods Among Us #1

Synopsis:

In the first issue we find that Superman has gotten Lois pregnant. (Wait that can’t happen, only Wonder Woman has a strong enough uterus to carry his kid) So Superman is grinning like an idiot, and the Joker has come to play!!!

WRITING:

Injustice - Gods Among Us #1 005

I’ve never read Tom Taylor’s writing, but the entire time reading this issue it made me think of the 2 parter JL episode “A Better World” I love how it starts in the present day, then rewinds 5 years in the past. Showing the events that led up to the current situation. I love how Batman narrates the story, and I can so hear Kevin Conroy saying these lines. I really enjoy the writing style for the Joker, and he was more badass in this issue, then anything that was done in Death Of The Family. The Story flows so well, I’m trying not to spoil what happens, because fans of these characters just NEED to read these books. Just know that the writing is very well done. You will be shocked at the ending of this first issue.

The art is amazing!!! The designs on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern are all great. I love how The joker and Harley look as well. Not too sure why Lois is a Redhead, but I don’t mind it. Maybe it was a reference to Lana Lang, I dunno. The backgrounds are also great, and I love the colors. I will say that in some panels that Batman’s cowl looks more like a helmet, but I still like it.

Issue #2

Injustice Gods Among Us #2

Synopsis:

Following a great tragedy, a new world order is proposed. But not every hero is willing to go along with the plan.

It’s hero versus hero in epic, unprecedented battles!

WRITING:

Injustice - Gods Among Us #2 014

The second issue of Injustice Gods Among Us is just as power packed as the first issue. With everything that happens in issue #1, it sends Superman down a dark path. Once again the writing is amazing, and I can hear the DC Animated Universe voice actors lending their voices to these characters. In this issue you have Superman Vs Green Lantern, that was one awesome battle, and once again the ending of the issue was so awesome. I can’t wait til the next issue after reading this.

ART:

Injustice - Gods Among Us #2 010

The battle between Superman and Green Lantern was awesome!!! The art in these books is just amazing. I love all the nuances that Raapack includes to add to Taylor’s writing is amazing.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Injustice - Gods Among Us #2 005

These first 2 issues were amazing!!! If you are excited about the upcoming Video Game, you need to read this ongoing series. Injustice Gods Among Us #3 comes out March 27, 2013. So get caught up now, and  READ THESE BOOKS!!!!

Mini Series Ratings:

    1. Yes I do know that, but I was saying that if they MADE THESE PREQUEL BOOKS into animated features I hear him in my head.
