Batman Beyond 2.0
Batman Beyond 2.0 Chapter 2 is here! Kyle Higgins, the masterful Nightwing Scribe enters the Beyond Universe, and gives us some damn fine storytelling.! This will be a SPOILER FREE Review!!!
Rewired Part 2 of 8: “The Dead Man Plan”
So Bruce is still alive and kickin’ and Ace is by his side as per usual. It is very strange seeing Bruce Wayne described as being the “former” Batman. however it’s the truth in the Beyond universe. I like how we get a tease of the Cave and Bruce, but not much else.
Writing:
I’m a fan of Kyle Higgins, everyone should know that by now. These digital issues read very fast for me. Kyle excels once again in the writing. I like the fact that it’s all handled through conversation versus have convos and an internal dialogue. So in this issue we are trying to find out just who is behind the mayor’s death, and Commissioner Barbara Gordon doesn’t think it was a heart attack. Reading how Kyle writes this, it’s like watching an episode of the cartoon series that the characters come from. I can hear Will Friedle’s voice in my head, both as Terry and Batman. I have no clue HOW Loren Lester would voice an old Nightwing, but that is the voice I hear in my head as well. Mr. Higgins is still keeping most everything a mystery, and I know the beginning of this post says a Spoiler Free review, but seeing Bruce might be a spoiler I dunno. It happens in the beginning of the issue, so I don’t think it is. I love how Terry and Barbara interact as you can see in the image below. It shows us that everyone has come to accept the fact that there is a different Batman in town. I freakin’ love the interacting between Dick and Terry as well. Dick Grayson whether young or old rules!!!!!!!!!
Art:
Thony Silas continues to impress me with the Bat Beyond Designs. If I had to nitpick one thing it’s the way Batman smiles in the above image, that kinda looked strange to me. Not that I’m saying it is bad, it’s just a different design than what I’m used to seeing Terry Bat’s smile. The other thing I noticed, but didn’t really affect my overall opinion of this issue was that while in the Cave Bruce’s clothes didn’t turn Purple.
CAVE COLORS:
Those are both minor nitpicks, and honestly they were the only ones I could find. Everything else about Silas’s art is wonderful and damn good.
Final Thoughts/Rating:
My final thought is STOP READING THIS, if you haven’t already, and go get BATMAN BEYOND 2.0 Chapter 2. You can find it on the Dc Comics App or Comixology or wherever you get your digital comics.
