Batman Beyond 2.0
Batman Beyond 2.0 Chapter 8 is here! Kyle Higgins, the masterful Nightwing Scribe continues writing a great tale in the Beyond Universe, and this time we see the conclusion to the Rewire story arc! This will be a SPOILER FREE Review!
The funny thing about Chapter 8 is that I knew it would be the end of the first arc, and my immediate thought was ohhh what will happen in Chapter 9? That was before I even bought this digital first on Comixology. The first two Saturdays of every month since Batman Beyond 2.0 launched I’ve been extremely eager to read these new adventures! The team of Kyle Higgins and Thony Silas is a great pairing!!! Between Kyle’s writing and Thony’s art they are doing a huge service in increasing the Bat Beyond Universe!!!
Rewired Part 8 of 8: “Power Hungry”
POWER HUNGRY! Concluding Batman Beyond 2.0’s first story Kyle Higgins and Thony Silas give us a nice little wrap up. I have to say that I was expecting something more at the end of this issue.
Kyle is firing on all cylinders here in this conclusion to the story. However I did feel as if everything wrapped up too fast while reading the story. It’s a great ending, and the final page is creepy as hell, but I was expecting something more. There is one twist in the writing that I absolutely loved. One thing that I was questioning by the end was what happened to Ghoul? We know he was still around helping Davis Dusk, but there’s nowhere in chapter 8 where anything is said about him. So this could be a good and bad thing. Good might be that we will see him in the future, bad would be that Kyle completely wrote him off. WHICH I know he wouldn’t do. So I’ll let that slide, and look forward to any future Ghoul appearances.
We see that the new Mayor is finally pulling the stick out when it comes to Commissioner Gordon. Only because she takes part in keeping him alive. I love the radio chatter between Dick Grayson and Batman. Dick and Terry’s friendship is something that I really enjoy reading as Kyle writes it. As this chapter concludes the Rewire arc, I’m VERY interested to see the way Kyle will tell the stories in the future, especially bringing up why there is a rift in the Bat Family these days.
I don’t want anyone else drawing, coloring, anything on this series other than Thony Silas. The man knows how to draw this universe so well. The Rewire design was something I’d never seen before, and it fits with all the other super villains of Neo Gotham. Because there is so much action in this issue, I can say very little about the backgrounds. They are there I know, but the action takes center stage!
The final page might be the creepiest character drawing I’ve ever seen in the Beyond Universe. Even moreso than electrified Joker in Return of the Joker. Keep up the awesome work Thony!
My final thought is STOP READING THIS, if you haven’t already, and go get BATMAN BEYOND 2.0 Chapter 8. You can find it on the DC Comics App or Comixology or wherever you get your digital comics. Batman Beyond 2.0 continues to be perfect, but in the case I have to give it an almost perfect, because of the fact that I wanted more out of the conclusion to the story.
