Review of Batman Beyond 2.0 Chapter 9

Batman Beyond 2.0

BBU #9 Cover

Batman Beyond 2.0 Chapter 9 is here! Kyle Higgins, the masterful Nightwing Scribe continues writing a great tale in the Beyond Universe, and this time we start a whole NEW story arc! It’s Batman Vs Shriek, but that’s not all that’s going on here! This will be a SPOILER FREE Review!

I’ve loved the current state of the Batman Beyond Universe since Adam Beechen was on the title. I really enjoyed Adam’s run, but Kyle Higgins is taking it to a whole other level of awesomeness!!!

BBU #9 Title

The Bat-Men “Everything Old is New Again” Part 1 of 7

The Bat-Men is an interesting title, and it leaves you wondering WHAT could possibly happen. I had several thoughts in the back of my mind, but the whole time I was reading the issue… I was like WHEN is it gonna pop up?

Writing:

While I love reading the print issues, I must say I’m getting swayed to the digital side of comics. At least more recently. Reading Bat Beyond 2.0 digitally is like watching an episode of the TV Series…. when it was airing on TV! Kyle Higgins does a wonderful job bringing characters to life. Plus the fact that he has a huge affection for the DCAU and the way he sticks to the continuity are all awesome! This issue as I stated above we have Batman Vs Shriek! I always enjoyed Shriek as a unique Bat Beyond villain. It’s like Batman Beyond has it’s own version of Soundwave! So the beginning of the story is a chase throufg the park, and then Shriek strikes!

What is done so beautifully is the visual effect of Terry becoming deaf for Shriek’s attack. The animated series did this with masterful sound design, and here in this issue it is pulled over very well both by Kyle and Thony as the artist. From a story stand point it’s strange to see empty word balloons, but from the art end of it it’s sheer genius. The other part of the story which I will not spoil is also very awesome, because it’s delving into the past!I love how Kyle breathes new life into the old adventures! Every 2 Saturdays a month I’m dying for the next chapter of this awesome story! Kyle Higgins keeps giving us great adventures in Batman Beyond 2.0

Art:

Thony Silas’s art is only made that much more awesome by Emilio Lopez’s colors! The colors and designs in this issue are simply breathtaking! Everything from What’s Old is New again… truly is. The wat the characters are drawn…. the way the action is paced out. It’s simply wonderful to see such bright and vibrant colors. Again I have to commend the art with the blank word balloons, that is something I never would have thought of to convey someone not being able to hear. On the page it looks great, and fits in with the writing so well.

The cover for this issue is done by  Rafael Albuquerque, and what an awesome cover it is. It might look like a simple image of Batman bruised and cut, with soundwaves behind him, but it is so much more than that. At least to me it does, because as soon as I saw this cover I knew who the villain was gonna be for this story, at least for Chapter 9. Can’t wait for the bright bold wonderful colors in Chapter 10!

Final Thoughts/Rating:

My final thought is STOP READING THIS, if you haven’t already, and go get BATMAN BEYOND 2.0 Chapter 9. It’s the start of the next 7 part story within the Batman Beyond Universe, and you won’t wanna miss a second of it! You can find it on the DC Comics App or Comixology or wherever you get your digital comics. Batman Beyond 2.0 continues to be perfect!
