Fans have asked for it, they have begged for it and finally during the last Nintendo Direct they got their answer. Majora’s Mask the second N64 Zelda title that came out in 2001 will be getting a 3DS remake much like Ocarina of Time 3D. There is not a lot of detail as of this posting but we do know from the trailer is the graphics are cleaner, sharper and a few more surprises will be in store for us.

It was also revealed during the Nintendo Direct that Majora’s Mask 3D has been in development since Ocarina of Time 3D was released ( Who would have thought?)

From the announce trailer we know fans both new and old will get to dive into the storyline of what most call one of the darkest Zelda games. Launch date is set for sometime in Spring 2015.

For those not familiar with this Zelda here is a brief synopsis of what you can expect when you play this installment of the series:

Taking place almost directly after the events of Ocarina of Time (after Link goes back to being a child and warns everyone) he departs Hyrule to look for a lost friend (Navi). During his journey he is ambushed by Skull Kid and his two fairy friends Tatl and Tael. Skull Kid wearing an eerie mask takes both Epona and Link’s Ocarina. Rushing after him Link finds himself cursed by Skull Kid  as Deku Scrub in a new land known as Termina. Termina is under a horrible fate, the moon is set to crash and end the world.Link only has 3 days to stop it.

This is the first Zelda game where you are literally on a time crunch. You have only 72 hours to get everything you need to get done or else it is game over. Luckily with the power of the Ocarina of Time Link is able to repeat the same 3 days over and over again. Will he be able to save Termina, return to Hyrule and find his lost friend? That you will have to find out for yourself.

As a huge Zelda fan I have high hopes for this 3DS installment. Ocarina of Time 3D gave us Master Quest mode, and the ability to replay Boss battles. I bet we will find out what other extra treats are included as we get closer to launch date.

For now fans will have to wait and thank Nintendo that their wishes for a 3DS remake of this game were heard and answered. ~Tarah Bleier
