The Voice
Season 4
The Voice has returned! Season 4 is here, and with it we get 2 new coaches!!! Monday March 25th and Tuesday March 26th, 2013 was the Season 4 premiere. There were a lot of great voices heard!!! This year I’ll be doing the blogs the same as last year, with a few twists.
So I’m back with my weekly blogs all about The Voice. This season is gonna be very interesting. Especially with Usher and Shakira joining the Voice Family as the two new coaches. Let me take this time to talk about Usher and Shakira. While I do believe they both add something new and different to The Voice, I also think that by the end of the season I’ll never watch Shakira ever again. Usher’s great, even though he constantly pulls the Bieber card, but Shakira ugh!!! Every time she goes to give advice I swear I need a translator. If only she could speak English the way she sings it I might not have a problem with her.
The show is segmented in three rounds. Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, and Live Performances. In this weeks blog I’ll be talking about Blind Auditions Rounds 1 and 2.
The Blind Auditions Round 1
Monday Night March 25th was Round 1 of The Blind Auditions…
The night started out with the coaches singing Come Together, and that really launched the Season. It was an amazing performance, check it out!
There were six non selected contestants on night one:
Janetza Miranda who sang David Guetta’s “Titanium”
I’ve never really cared for this song. A couple of the Season 3 contestants sang it, and I think they did a better job than Janetza.
Nicole Serrano who sang Katy Perry’s “E.T.”
Once again re watching the premiere online they edit the ones that didn’t make the cut. I missed Nicole’s performance when it was on TV, and after seeing it online, I’m gonna safely say that she wasn’t ready just yet. Plus E.T. cmon, I’m soo sick of that song.
James Shealy who sang Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You”
I didn’t really care for his rendition of the song.
Hunter Elizabeth who sang “Mercy”
This chick has potential, but we’ll have to see it elsewhere
Leah Lewis who sang Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away”
I thought that Leah did a damn good job, but as the coaches said she isn’t quite ready yet.
James Irwin who sang The Script’s “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”
First off, I’ve NEVER heard of the song or the group that originally sang it. However James is the one out of the six that didn’t make it, that I thought should have. His story is just amazing, and his voice is impeccable.
Each Coach ended up with a variety of team members by the end of the night. Adam scored one, Blake snagged three, Shaira got one, and Usher got two new team members. Here’s my breakdown of night one:
Team Adam:
Judith Hill who sang Christina Aguilera’s “What A Girl Wants”
Judith has an amazing voice. She actually worked with Michael Jackson. Her singing this Aguilera song is very fitting. It sounds great, and I absolutely can’t wait to see what else she has to offer in the future. This was the performance that ended the night, and all four coaches hit their buttons. Judith’s slow rendition of the song fits so well.
You can get Judith Hill’s version of What A Girl Wants Here
Team Blake:
The Morgan Twins who sang Alicia Keys’s Fallin
Rian and Cara Morgan are the The Morgan Twins! These girls are HOT, ok now that’s outta the way. Their voices almost sounded as one single voice in the performance. They rock, and I think they might be the first duo to ever win The Voice!
You can get The Morgan Twins version of Fallin’ Here
Danielle Bradbery sang Taylor Swift’s Mean
OK first off before I get to my thoughts on Danielle, I do have to say that Usher’s bit with calling Nashville a state was freakin’ hilarious!!! As far as Danielle goes, I really loved her rendition of Mean. I said in a few blogs in Season 3 that The Voice turns me onto songs I normally wouldn’t listen to.
You can get Danielle Bradbery’s version of Mean Here
Christian Porter sang LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It”
Christian really got the ladies going! His rendition of the song was damn good, and I loved the fast paced tones in it.

Team Shakira:
Mark Andrew sang Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door
I like Mark’s slower rendition of this song, but this is a rock song damnit. I think Benji from Season 3 did it slightly better. I understand why Mark performed it the way he did, and I did enjoy it, but it wasn’t the best performance of the night for me.
You can get Mark Andrew’s version of Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door Here
Kris Thomas who sang Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love For You”
Kris was the shocker of the night. Because of his speaking and singing voice are so very different. He knocked that Whitney song outta the park.
You can get Kris Thomas’s version of Saving All My Love For you Here
Team Usher:
Jess Kellner who sang Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love”
Jess was so great, I loved her rendition of the song. She has such a unique boice that it might carry her. The reason why I say this is because she can sing almost any genre, and make it sound beautiful. Jess is awesome, I can’t wait to see what other songs that she sings this season.
You can get Jess Kellner’s version of Can’t Help Falling In Love Here
Vedo who sang Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend”
While I really was touched by his story, Vedo picked the wrong song for me to like him. Ugh, but he is in the right place on Usher’s Team.
You can get Vedo’s version of Boyfriend Here
The Blind Auditions Round 2
Tuesday Night March 26th was Round 2 of The Blind Auditions
By the end of the night Blake had no new team members, Adam had 2 new team members, Usher had 1 new team member, and Shakira had 2 new team members.
There was one non selected contestant on night two:
Abraham McDonald who sang Beyonce’s “Best Thing I Never Had”
Abraham’s pitch was all off, and he kinda butchered the song in my opinion. However he does have talent, he just needs to find the right style.
Team Adam:
Midas Whale who sang Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”
These guys are gonna be fun, I can’t wait to see what other fun songs Adam has them doing.
You can get Midas Whale’s version of Folsom Prison Blues Here
Sarah Simmons who sang Joan Osborne’s “One of Us”
WOW Sarah has such a sweet, and rockin range!!! She might be my NEW favorite for Season 4!!!!
You can get Sarah Simmons’s version of One Of Us Here
Team Blake:
Sadly Blake got no new artists this night
Team Shakira:
Tawnya Reynolds sang Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys
Really loved Tawnya’s performance! It was a great rendition of the song, and she is one of the S4 artists I’ll be rooting for as the competition goes on.
You can get Tawnya Reynolds’s version of Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys Here
Cathia who sang “No me Doy por Vencido” (English: I Don’t Surrender)
Yeah once this chick starts singin’ in FRICKEN ENGLISH, I might enjoy her.
You can get Cathia’s version of “No me Doy por Vencido” (English: I Don’t Surrender) Here
Team Usher:
Josiah Hawley who sang Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning”
Oh man, Josiah is a young Adam Levine! I swear I re listened to the Maroon 5 version, and then Josiah’s version, and they are both perfect! This guy is gonna go a long way in Season 4.

Week 1 Final Thoughts:
Week one of The Voice’s fourth season was explosive, heartfelt, and amazing. I can’t wait to see more Blind Auditions, and see how the coach’s teams fill out. I’ll be back at this blogging thing, next Wednesday. Everyone should check out The Voice. You can watch the performances on The Voice’s YouTube Channel.
The Voice Season 4 Insider Week 1 !!
To me Danielle Bradbery was the highlight of the first two nights and the only one I can see in the finals already. I will say that Kris Thomas was closer than anyone else to here. I’m undecided on most of the other team members at this point.
I will agree that Danielle is a definite contender, depending on the songs they choose. I’m so stoked about Sarah Simmons, she has the rasp of Juliet Simms, and the sweetness of Cassadee Pope. Again all initial thoughts, and we’ll have to see how far they go… hopefully far!!!
What did you think of the new blogging style… the change up with the blinds this year is that instead of an image of the artists have the interview vids…. I’m liking it. Dunno how it will change after the blinds though.
