5 Reasons to Attend San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con is one of the most hallowed events in the entire year for gamers, geeks, and movie buffs alike. Yes, the price of admission is expensive (and extremely hard to get!), but it’s worth it if you can get yourself a ticket. Here are five reasons to attend San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.

Be a part of a tradition

The San Diego Comic-Con has been successfully running since 1970 where the event displayed local and international comic artist and hosted just 300 people in a local hotel ballroom. Today, San Diego Comic-Con draws around 130,000 people, including guests, as well as artists, celebrities, and more.

Celebrity sightings

Undoubtedly one of the best parts of San Diego Comic-Con is getting to see and connect with some of your favorite celebrities. Comic-Con historically was created for comic books, but especially with the super-hero age of film and TV today, you will see no shortage of movie stars at this event. Not to mention the significant TV segment on Comic-Con, so many of the TV shows that we know and love, whether they are mainstream, like Game of Thrones, or have a cult following, like Dr. Who, are highly sought after at Comic-Con as well, and you can expect to bump into many TV stars while you’re there. Needless to say, make sure you bring your camera or have your phone fully unloaded to snap lots of pictures – you’re going to want to show them off (and definitely back them up on your computer with the help of a cable from Koincable company) when you get home.

First to hear new announcements

One of the coolest parts of attending San Diego Comic-Con is the interactive experiences. With a badge, you can be a part of the panel discussions that include full casts of the hottest TV shows and movies, and you can participate in the countless seminars and workshops with professional artists and writers. During many of these panels, stars have been known to let slip important announcements about upcoming seasons, reveal plot twists, and more! (Sometimes on purpose, sometimes accidentally – but being there to witness it in person is what makes it so special).

If you’re specifically more interested in movie and television premiers, you can check out the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival, which is held during Comic-Con. It’s an additional ticket, so more money, but you get the chance to screen new films before they make it to the big screen!

The cosplay

The costumes alone could be their own event with charged admission. When it comes to San Diego Comic-Con, attendees pull out all the stops to dress like their favorite comic book, movie, TV or web-series character (or sometimes, a totally random character reference). Yes, you’ll want to take pictures of celebrities and killer displays, but you’ll also want to snap some shots of the incredible, creative costumes that you see throughout the weekend.

You get to visit San Diego

A side benefit of attending San Diego Comic-Con, but definitely worth mentioning, is the fact that you get to visit San Diego – one of the most beautiful places in the world! San Diego Comic-Con is typically held in July, where the weather in San Diego is warm, but not humid. You can take in the beautiful beachfront scenery, enjoy warm temperatures, and see some of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, like the famous San Diego Zoo, and the beautiful seaside town of Coronado.

Although the cost of admission is expensive, and there are lots of logistics to navigate, going to San Diego Comic-Con is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will never forget.
