  1. I am with Matt on this one. I rewatched Mortal Kombat when How did this get made did an episode and I remember liking it a lot. Seeing it years later it did not hold up at all. The acting was sooo bad, the plot was so all of the place, and the fights did not work for me at all. Now I can’t back Matt up on Annihilation being better. That is a piece of hot garbage.

    1. the films are BETTER than MK Defenders of the realm. the animated series. Now THAT was a HOT Piece of garbage! Imagine luke perry from 90210 as the voice of SUB-ZERO!

      1. I somewhat remember liking that cartoon as a kid. I barely remember it though. I assume it did not hold up well.

    2. I think that is unfair somewhat. This movie has its issues but I always felt it was a fair representation of the game. To me it was evident things were going on in the background we were not aware of that would be further explained and would have been if the sequel wasn’t so rushed.

      1. I agree with Haile. This was supposed to be a film adaptation of the video game. It seems that with all the past films we were grading them on a curve or with that in mind. I’m not sure if it’s more because this resembles an actual film that we all of a sudden held it to a higher standard or what. Is this in my Top 100 films of all time (Spoiler Alert) Of course not. Is it the best representation of a video game and the best all around actual film that we’ve covered so far…I’d say hand’s down.

        1. I feel that Street Fighter was more entertaining, and made more logical sense as a script, and was as close to the game, character wise, as MK was. But I know a lot of people don’t like campy movies. I could almost put SF in my Top 100. MK I’d rather never watch again.

          1. Street Fighter was better than I remembered. One of JCVD’s better movies of that era. Again another good by comparison situation.

          2. Me too. I thought it had some legit comedic moments. Still not a good movie but was not nearly as bad as some of the movies we covered…or will be covering.

        2. That’s it. It’s not a great movie by any means but when you look at it compared to other video game movies it works enough to be watchable.
