  1. Did someone say when I think of Bill Murray I think of his work in Space Jam? Wow.

      1. GB 1-2 okay. What About Bob. Sure. Space Jam though. Space Jam. Out of everything else you go to space jam.

  2. Great banter this week, guys. For some reason my podcatcher wasn’t updating the podcast, so I have some catching up to do.

The discussion about Steve’s dog is one I can definitely relate to. I’m glad that the show just goes into these random life topics sometimes. Sorry for your loss, Steve. I hope you get that beagle you’re wanting. We have a pug and a puggle, a rescue and an adoption. There are likely some beagle rescues that you can look at in addition to the shelters. I am not sure if you’ve looked at those. The waiting period at shelters is rather common. If you’re making a long drive, I would hope they would work with you so that you do not have to wait. But a lot of shelters seem to do that so that they can run a background check, or just as a deterrent to those who don’t think through what they’re doing. It’s a case of the idiocy of a few affect the many. And if it’s their policy, then it’s applicable to everyone.

As for fall TV, Gotham is firing on all cylinders this season. I would have dropped it last season if it hadn’t been for my wife. She insisted we keep watching, and it has paid off. The latter part of last season and this season have been very good. For me, and Mike, getting rid of Phish (spelling?) has been welcomed. The Flash is moving along nicely. And I agree that anyone who says the writing is bad or corny is thinking this is supposed to be True Detective or something. It’s a freakin’ superhero show…on the CW! The writing is fine and I don’t think it’s that cheesy either. Some people just can’t enjoy anything anymore. Arrow is doing well. I liked the first half of last season a lot. After the battle with Ras Al Ghul it got off track for me though. The problem with Arrow is that they’ve moved way too quickly. Too many of the family conflicts were nixed because of deaths, and then too many other heroes were brought in way too early. I miss the conflicts from the first two seasons. And it was fun seeing new characters or having the inside knowledge about a character from having read DC comics. Or even things like Thea being nicknamed ‘Speedy’. This season I feel like they knew they went too dark and Ollie is using his higher voice from his early days on the island. I enjoy the show, but it’s still not firing on all cylinders.

And what do you mean Bill Murray and Liam Neeson aren’t doing anything? They’re pumping out movies all of the time, especially Liam. He has a new action movie out every month. The Grey was a good film. Bill Murray continues to be an entertaining actor/comedian. Sure, his newer roles are mostly more serious, but he still brings his sense of humor to the roles. It is a different style of comedy. At his age, he can’t play the womanizing idiot anymore. In fact, I think he had one of the funniest moments on the recent SNL anniversary show. His heyday will always be the 80’s films: Meatballs, Ghostbusters, Stripes and later hits like What About Bob?, Groundhog Day, etc., but his work in the last few years has garnered him a lot of critical success, and he is an icon. Likewise, Liam keeps busy with action roles at his age, which is amazing. He’s in his 60’s now.

    1. I meant outside of multiple Taken sequels, and standard forgettable action films. Liam hasn’t done anything truly explosive to catch my eye since The A-Team!

      1. Oh, okay. He was excellent in The Grey. That’s a film worth checking out. It was on Netflix.

      2. The Grey is great as @TimSilvers points out. A Walk Among the Tombstones was a surprise as well. Much better than you’d expect. Non-Stop was Not Terrible. I don’t know. I am excited for his next project Silence. It’s directed by this guy called Martin Scorsese.

    2. Thanks man on my dog. I miss her and I think all can relate there. I do get the waiting and all. We ended up finding a hunter selling Beagle puppies so it helped. We wanted to make the drive but the Chicago snow storm blowing in we opted not to go that far.

Yeah we figured we could touch the usual but we wanted to talk life again. It was definitely more fun.

I agree on Gotham. Definitely better this season. As for Bill Murray I appreciate him more now that a few years ago haha. Liam I enjoy despite him mostly doing the same films. But he feels not phoned in compared to Bruce WIllis.

  5. Sorry to hear about Steve’s dog. Those moments are really heartbreaking. As someone who volunteered in a kennel and a dog adoption agency a for a period of time I can tell you those hoops can be a hassle but are 100% needed especially if you have one near a major city. I could go on forever regarding the horror stories of dogs that were adopted and horribly mistreated afterwards. And you’d be surprised by the people that would do it. People you think look and act normal but then do awful things or the most common neglect dogs by keeping them outside not feeding the list goes on for way too long. For many breeds and especially pitpulls the adoption process takes awhile and requires monthly check ins to make sure the dog is okay. Because if its not or is mistreated it effects the people who gave you the dog and can cause them to loose licenses.

I don’t know the specifics of your situation obviously so they may be more extreme than others. Glad you are going for a rescue though because they are so many good pets that go unclaimed.

    1. Thanks man. Yeah I can understand the hoops but it seemed a bit much on their not returning calls and the sort. We ultimately found some about 1.5 hours from us and now have a pup which will tell about next episode.
