  1. I heard when it comes to the picture deals it counts for any appearance they make with the character, however they can make special deals within that. For example Samuel L Jacksons’s appearance on Agents of Shield did not count for his overall picture deal. Not sure if the say can be said for Chris Evans.

  2. You can’t blame cable companies for not letting you pick the channels you want that’s on the TV studios that won’t let cable companies do that. They charge higher fees for those channels so they have to package them like they do to recoup their costs. If anything its better the way they do it. If you paid per channel you’d probably have to pay even more for the channels you actually want. It is the difference of buying something in bulk vs buying someone off the cart. Buying in bulk brings the prices down.

    1. I’ve heard Chris Evans say if he cameos in a movie it counts as one of his appearances. But it could be different for other actors. I know he didn’t get paid very much for his role as Capt.

  3. I like these segment things you are doing. Makes the show flow even better.

    1. Glad you’re liking the new segments. It does two things. 1) Prevent us from making more shows, and 2) Gives you guys something additional in this podcast. We have some new alternating ones planned to keep it fresh.

  4. Random question. Could you suggest an app for podcasting? I
don’t use apple and I’ve been trying to find an App on droid for podcasts but
nothing really works all that well. I’ve used Dogcatcher and Downcast but had a
    lot of issues with both.

  5. God I wish you could pick what channels you want. Would make life so much easier. I don’t think we are that far off though. With Hulu, On Demand, Netflix, and everything you are pretty much your own TV channel. Can’t think of the last time I watched a show when it aired. Are there any shows you feel like you have to watch when they air? Some shows I worry about spoilers so I just avoid social media until I see them.

    1. I cut the cord 5 years ago, haven’t looked back, Netflix, Hulu, friends HBO Go account FTW. Side benefit, when I do watch live TV at my parents house or friends house, the commercials are always fresh and funny, not old and worn out. I look forward to the Super Bowl every year just for the commercials.

  6. I thought about doing podcast/blog stuff of my own but my worry is that it will become a big pain and work that doesn’t pay off all that well. Is that the case at all?

    1. moneywise yeah we make nothing, but we’ve gained a lot of new friends, and a ton of people like what we do.

  7. This episode became how many things can Mike be wrong about. J Starts off strong with Breaking Bad Season 2 is the only good season. So, so wrong. Also Toy Story 3 isn’t as good as people think it is. Nope, it’s just as good as I think it is. It’s quite amazing, and the argument that people over value it because it’s the last one doesn’t hold any credence because before that Toy Story 2 was ‘the last one’ and it didn’t receive the same acclaim.

Regarding more good TV to watch you need to start watching The West Wing and Mike with you love of things being connected The Wire might be for you. Hate to sound likea broken record. It’s not a show for everyone, it takes its sweet old time, but it brought a form of realism to cop dramas that has yet to be matched. 24 is a decent show for the most part. The gimmick does wear thin after awhile. Just finished Veep awhile back and found that to be a fun show. I’ll always be a fan of The Office (both versions), An Idiot Abroad can be a good time, and I would say Man Men is quite fantastic as well, but don’t watch it on Netflix. To truly appreciate that films style you must watch it on Blu. I’m also a fan of HBO’s Summer Heights High, Life’s Too Short, and heard good things about Hello Ladies.

    1. LOL I agree on Toy Story arguments. same ones we made in Top 100 Countdown. As for the shows you mentioned, none of those I find appealing, maybe Mike will though. Most I’ve attempted but a sort for some I guess. :)

    2. I don’t think Toy Story 3 is BAD, it just didn’t hit me as hard as it did every one else, partly cause I had gripes about it going in. It was a sequel, it was release in 3D, it changed Directors, All things I hold against the movie for better or worse. I liked it, it just doesn’t rank IMO.

I also enjoyed Breaking Bad from start to finish but the high point of the series IMO was season 2 because it was going in the direct I thought the show was going to go in, after season 2 it just kind of floundered around, still good and an excellent TV show but it didn’t turn out, or go in the direction, I thought it would go after season 2.

I enjoy Veep. Can’t get into the Office, 24 or an Idiot Abroad (I have spent time with both). Mad Men, The Wire and West Wing are all on my “To Watch” list. Summer Heights and Lifes Too Short I’ll add to my “check out” list. Hello Ladies has been cancelled, won’t watch that.

  9. IFC has a lot of great shows you should check out. Especially if you are a fan of podcasts there is Mark Marons’s show Maron, Portlandia. and Comedy Bang Bang–another podcast turned TV show. I think they are on Netflix as well.

  10. Has anyone watched the new Sci Fi show Helix? It looked like it could be intriguing, but ScyFy has burned me so much in the past I don’t even want to start to get invested in one of their shows.

  11. Quite the TV talk you had there. I think I understood about half of it, but it was still a fun listen.

    1. I’m surprised so many made it through that segment. If you have any questions feel free to ask:)

  12. So I didn’t get Mike’s remark regarding the Timeline book. I get that book was better than the movie with Paul Walker but you said you finally had your revenge but didn’t specify how. Was that in regards to Paul Walker dying? I may have misheard but it kind of sounded like that is what you were saying. Was just odd because you guys don’t tend to make an obviously tasteless joke like that.

    1. My apologies. That was tasteless. It’s just how I deal with death news. I just don’t usually say that kind of stuff in a public venue.

  13. I know you guys like Arrow. My wife and I both love the show. Having found it on Netflix we blazed through season one and we want to get caught up on season two. I began recording season two to my DVR, but we’ve missed the first half of the season. Where would you suggest we legally get the episodes? Maybe you can discuss this as a larger topic of comparing iTunes, Amazon, Playstation Store, etc. I don’t have an AppleTV, so that is one hurdle to buying from there. My MacBook doesn’t have HDMI and I would need to purchase the DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, which I’d rather not do. I have a PS3 and a smart TV (2013 Panasonic plasma) so I could use the Amazon app or purchase via the Playstation Store. What has been your experiences? What about the listeners? What would they recommend? I prefer high-quality/HD. Thanks!

      1. Not all of season two is on Hulu. I just recently learned that Hulu often only hosts a few episodes per show. And we want to watch the shows on our TV, not the computer. So last night I decided to buy some episodes via Sony’s Playstation Store and Amazon. I think the overall quality was better from Sony, but they were very close. Amazon looked good as well. The price per episode is consistent across services, $2.99. So I am just going to roll with these options for now.

        1. If you sign up for Hulu Plus you can stream it through your Playstation. It’s like 8 bucks a month and has both Season 1 & 2. If you are going to pay per episode you’d be better off with Hulu. Plus they have a ton of the Criterion Collection streaming which is an additional bonus.

          1. I wasn’t aware of that. We have been considering Hulu Plus, but we have so much to watch already. This is probably a good time to jump on the Hulu Plus bandwagon. We had intended to subscribe to it in the summer when our U-verse special ends and AT&T jacks the price up by $40 a month for our TV package.

          2. Dan, Hulu does not have all of season 2 of Arrow. Episodes 5, 6, 7, and then 11 and 12. Ugh! That’s what the site said. Well, we’re using the week trial anyway, so no harm done. :)

          3. Weird it had all the episodes not too long ago. Like last week that is really odd

          4. Hulu does the current shows to a point, for example they may only have the last 5 episode of a currently running season. When the air the 6th episode they drop episode 1, I think that’s what happens. And since 12 just aired it would make sense for them to only have 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. While I say it makes sense, it only makes sense in Hulu’s mind. Not a fan of Hulu , especially Hulu Plus. Mainly because not all of the Hulu content is available for streaming on Hulu Plus, some of the content remains web only, which when I am paying for a service, seems kinda silly. Also the commercials get repetitive.

          5. I think it depends on the Network. For example all of Brooklyn 99 and Modern Family for this season are available. The commercials due get repetitive but I’ve notice if you watched older stuff that is not current you don’t get as much.

I think Hulu is worth it simply for the Criterion Collection. A lot of amazing movies available for streaming. Some of which are hard to find in print any more. But I realize many of those films don’t interest a lot of people.
