Talking In Circles – Episode 48 – Will You Be My Antihero

TinC-ipod

We are getting back to basics with another Top 5 list this week. GCRN Alum Kevin ‘OptimusSolo’ Thompson was nice enough to join us as we count down our Favorite Anti Heroes. Those characters that aren’t afraid to bend the rules…as long as it is for a good cause of course. Make sure to let us know what you think of our choices and tell us who would make your list!

  1. I’m glad someone mentioned Han Solo. For me and I assume most geeks he was the first antihero I was exposed to. At the time I had no idea of what the term meant of course. I just thought he was cool cause he got the girl and smirked the whole time.

  2. My list would be similar to Chuck’s. Punisher and Han Solo are a must for me. Hulk is a question mark. Don’t know if I consider him a straight Antihero. I see the argument. Just never picture him as one.

My personal favorite is Dexter though. Do you guys watch that show at all?

    1. I have been compared to Dexter by some friends. I am not a serial killer so, I don’t understand how they make the connection. That has kind of turned me off the show.

    2. I would consider Hulk as an antihero because he doesn’t have the classic traits associated with stereotypical heroes. I mean his biggest enemy is the US Military.

  3. Glad to hear Snape get a mention. I loved the character in the books and Rickman brought it to another level

  4. Nice glad to see another good old fashioned episode. Will you be getting back to Unknown any time soon?

    1. We have one half of an Unknown recorded. Chuck has been busy so we haven’t been able to get his part done.

  5. My top 5 would be 5. Tony Montana, 4. Wolverine, 3. Jack Baurer, 2. Jules from Pulp Fiction, and number one of course has to be Batman.

  6. My favorite anti-hero is The Comedian from Watchmen. His entire personality was an intentionally sustained satire of the decline of American civilization. Like a traditional comedian uses humor to tell truths, he used his entire life to the same effect. The movie reduces this subplot to a couple of throwaway lines, unfortunately.

    1. I’ve never read the book so I can’t really say. Based on the movie though I was a huge fan of Rorschach and would count him as a great antihero. .
