Talking in Circles – 100 – PG Awful

TinC-ipod

This week’s theme: Keeping it 100! We are celebrating turning 100 and in honor of our celebration we are going back and playing our first and favorite game: Fact or Fiction! We dive deep into hard nosed topics like: Is any food a breakfast food if you eat it early enough? What is the best way to organize comics? And who really is ahead in the Comic book world? Before we get to that we also go over some Toy Fair news and speculate over if the release of new toys will help spoil upcoming summer blockbusters.

  1. So they did announce who the build a figure is going to be and Chuck is right it is Giant Man. I figured that would be something they would have to do eventually. I was expecting it in the Ant-Man movie. Hopefully they don’t pull an Ultimates and keep Paul Rudd’s clothes on.

    1. Yes for Pete’s sake clothes on haha. What do you think of the legends x-men wave? I am more excited for that whole series

      1. Haha. Yeah I hear ya. I am looking forward to that classic hobgoblin. I’m more into the older characters since I don’t really read the new stuff

      1. Well for the Cap line I’m most anticipating the Nuke figure. Also the Black Panther looks really great. Good improvement on the last one. The X-Men line looks solid. I may be more excited for the Spider-Man line over the X-Men one. Mostly due to Silk. Love that character. For the X-Men line the figures look great just have so many of all those characters already. That Deadpool and Cable look sick though. Oh and Rogue and Phoenix. Who am I kidding. I’ll get them all.

          1. Well if you like 90’s Spider-Man stuff you might want to check out Silk. She reminds me of where the character of Peter Parker was in the 90’s.

  3. I have an insane system when it comes to my comics that I change all the time. I think I finally figured it out. Major cross over events are grouped together but split based on comic. I then split based on character or teams. And then create sub categories within those groups. I have print out on the front and top of each box that indicates its number and whats in it, and I also have a spreadsheet I keep everything in. Crazy I know.

    1. Man I’m jealous. Mine are just in boxes randomly. I just throw them in there as I pick them up.

      1. I moved away from long boxes and now use file cabinets.I have some really big ones that I customized so comics fit in there rather nicely. I have a select few comics I keep in my pride and joy section that is in lock and key. Also for those I have had graded I have a section for those as well. They fit much better than in long boxes.

    2. I tried to organize by storyline, to make it easier on SO and roommates wanting to do some occasional reading. I painstakingly verified which stories fit where, comparing them to publishing dates of individual issues. Then, I found that no one–not my SO, my roommmates, or even me–could remember where a particular issue went after removing it from the box.

Honestly, it’s just easier to sort them alphabetically. By title. So, Amazing Spider-Man goes under “A.” Uncanny X-Men under “U.”

      1. I’ve separated by storylines in the past. Mostly with ones I really love like Civil War and Age of Apocalypse.

        1. I’ve done that too when I bought entire arcs from my comic shop that were already organized that way. One reason I was never A big fan of cross over stories that jump from series to series

    3. I don’t separate by publisher, I do the whole thing alphabetically. Series organized by title, ASM in the A’s, USM in the U’s and so on. Books that go in a crossover are filed according to title also, so Civil War is in “C” and all the tie-ins are with their regular series. “True” crossovers (like, say, Trinity War or that last GL thing) where a story takes place in multiple parts over a number of titles are filed the same way, by title. Nothing must disrupt the system!

    4. Wow. That’s impressive. I tried something similar with my films, but I’ve gotten lazy and don’t bother to categorize them at all anymore.
