TinC-ipod

On this week’s show we are Chuckless as he is off on special assignment. Greg and Dan do their best to hold down the fort as they countdown their favorite comic book series of the year so far. Before that they talk about Netflix’s new hit series Stranger Things and Greg has a double dose review of Ghostbusters as he reviews the new film and documentary Ghostheads.

  1. I loved Stranger Things. Such an amazing show. So happy it is getting a second season

    1. It is the best thing period I have watched this year. I’ve already watched it twice.

  3. Wasn’t big man plans last year? Or do you count it because the trade came out this year?

Anyways I have to agree with you both on The Fix. A hilarious comic and a fresh book for Image. Glad to see they are just doing a straight crime story that has no supernatural elements at all.

Some other books I would add are Moon Knight, The Wicked + The Divine, and Ms. Marvel.

  5. My favorite books right now:

Birthright – Really great fantasy book! Sort of a cross between Skyrim or Lord of The Rings and one of those lost kid fantasy movies like Labyrinth or Wizard of Oz (only this time it’s about what happens after the kid comes back and is no longer a kid).

Black Science – Basically the TV show sliders if it was about stoners and assholes.

Descender – Humans and aliens vs robots and AI done exceptionally well. The art is breath taking and the writing is even better. Lemire took a simple and basic sci-fi plot and transformed it into something totally new and captivating with a very well developed universe and a sense of scope that is far beyond anything else I’m reading right now.

Paper Girls – A tribute to 80s Stephen Spielburg teenage adventure movies like the goonies involving time travel, teenage mutant future ninjas, cigarettes, and dinosaurs. Need I say more?

  7. No Vision in either of your Top 5? Wow! That’s surprising for sure. I would put that as by far the best Marvel book in years.
