Talking in Circles – 72 – Today We Learned

TinC-ipod

Who says podcasts can’t be both fun and educational?  On this week’s episode of Talking in Circles we are all about the random fun facts. We talk about everything from who was the first super hero ever to fly in comics to who started putting candles on birthday cakes. Before we get educated Dan has a review of The Valiant mini series and Chuck just might be coming a fan of animated movies.

  1. Yay I get to be a part of the teaching! Actually Dan, the book it program started in 1984 and actually is still very much going on today! Unfortunately we don’t do a lot of movie promos though anymore cause I would love the free stuff!!

  2. We had Book-it when I was a kid and I can honestly say if it didn’t exist I may not have ready any books growing up. I would have assumed Superman or Captain Marvel would have been the first superheros to fly. Its weird thinking there was a time when superheroes didn’t fly. Its like not even considered a superpower anymore.

  3. I never realized birthdays went that far back. I assumed it was like a Christian thing kind of tied to Christmas. Live and you learn I guess. I bet in the future people will think Facebook was responsbile for making birthdays popular.

    1. Facebook has made saying Happy Birthday mean nothing. I have people I haven’t talk to in real life in decades telling me Happy Birthday. And I do it too don’t get me wrong. It’s like I’m afraid someone I went to high school with will get mad I didn’t wish them a happy birthday even though I don’t talk to that person at all. But I do it just in case.
