TinC-ipod

This week’s theme: Phase 2. With Marvel’s Cinematic Phase 2 coming to an end we take a look to see how well it fared compared to Phase 1, including a review of Marvel’s latest film Ant-Man. Before we get to that though Dan talks about DC’s latest animated feature Justice League: Gods and Monsters and explains why its a return to form for DC, Chuck doesn’t get why Terminator: Genisys is getting so much hate, and Greg has finally caught up with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2.

  1. I could not agree more with Chuck’s take on Terminator: Genisys. Your point about Sky Net being the main villian is fantastic. Didn’t even think about it that way but when you think about it its like an adventure survival film. In that people are fighting against nature. In Terminator its Technology. Instead of a cavern to cross or lack of food to deal wit
h they have an android to stop. And Time Travel as a weapon is not something i saw before to that extent before. It is not the best of the series but its better than people are saying in my book.

    1. My biggest issue with Genisys was it didn’t do anything new or bring anything to the table we haven’t seen before. Unlike T2 it can’t stand on its own if you don’t know what happened before. My biggest gripe were the special effects. You would think twenty years since T2 came out they would look much better than they did. They look worse. I have the same problem with Jurassic World. The movie that came out when I was a kid shouldn’t look more convincing now than the movie coming out in 2015.

      1. I dunno I thought the special effects were great. Even the CG on the “young” Arnold. I had no problem with them. And I would argue that Genisys did bring something very new which was the resistance aggressively using time travel multiple times to try to outsmart Skynet and Skynet actually matching them move for move like a chess match in real time. I was impressed. To each his own I suppose.

    2. Good analogy! Thanks lol. Glad someone else enjoyed it. Curious to see where they go next.

    3. That makes sense when you think about it that way. Genisys was mindless fun for me. Not much more.

    4. Agreed. Terminator Genisys was a return to form for me. Why so much hate for it I don’t’ know.

  3. They did verify Mark Hamill will be playing the Joker in the Killing Joke. Nothing on Kevin Conroy from what I have read. I would have to imagine he’ll be coming back as well. I would be weird if they go someone else.

  5. My rankings of Phase 2 would be: Guardians, Winter Solider, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Thor the Dark World, and IM3. The only one I didn’t like was IM3. Overall I say phase one and phase two are about even. Iron Man to me is still their best movie, and Iron Man 3. I would also put Avengers as number two but Guardians, Winter Solider, and Age of Ultron next. So neither Phase is better in my eyes.

    1. You ratings are exactly the same as mine for Phase 2. So in other words you are a genius.

  7. One of my favorite things to come out of Ant-Man. Love to see these two face off if the Atom ever becomes his true character.

    1. I am very excited to see The Atom’s shrinking scenes in Legends of Tomorrow. I’m curious to see how the TV effects stack up to the big screen. Probably not as good but I’m still intrigued. And I would honestly prefer Ant-Mans suit. I like Ray’s flight and weapons but I don’t understand why he left the bottom part of the face exposed. I would feel completely vulnerable.

    2. I prefer the old school look of Ant-Man it looks like it came out of 60 Sci Fi which I like

    2. The power of still images. Atom looks so much better here than he does in the show and Ant-Man’s costume looks dull.In the TV show I can’t stand Atom’s look and love Ant-Man. Go figure.

    4. If they just get rid of the dumb face guard on the Atom suit I would like it so much more. Also looks very plastic.
