  1. No love for the Chappelle show? That had some of my favorite sketches. The blind black white supremacist. Come on now that was genius. I still laught at those ten years after the fact.

    1. I had an acquaintance at work that loved to quote the the now legendary line, “I’m Rick James, bitch!” but could not commit to cursing for the gag.

      Result?

A decidedly less funny “I’m Rick James!…” and smile with expectant stare till you fulfilled your obligation to laugh. I usually responded with a cheerful and oblivious, “Hi Rick!”

He stayed an acquaintance for a reason.

  2. My all time favorite is Mr. Creosote” from Monty Python’s “The Meaning of Life. much of what makes Monty Python humor so great is the juxtaposition of absurdity with the ordinary. They’d take everyday situations and throw in something totally off-the-wall, which was funny itself, but the real humor came from watching the ‘regular’ folks coping with the bizarre situations – an especially effective technique when lampooning uptight upper-class Brits.

  3. Chevy chase and Richard Pryor insulting each other with the WORST racial slurs. On SNL. Back when SNL was really funny. Shocking!!! That would be in my top five. Celebrity Jeopardy 100% agree. That was awesome. My favorite game for Whose Line was questions. Mainly cause I like paying it myself. How did you not include that?

  6. I love Key & Peele but for me their best sketch isn’t subisitue teacher but Family Matters. That is some next level crazy right there. Family Matters’ shift from a humble family sitcom into the wacky Steve Urkel show — and turns it into a brilliant, surprising, hilarious, supremely dark sketch.

  9. Have you guys ever watched SCTV? For my money it was better than SNL ever was. IMO Kids in the Hall is superior to SNL in every way as well. I was happy to hear some love for Upright Citizens Brigade. Their show was never nearly as good as their live shows. Comedy Central wouldn’t let them go down the weird rabbits holes their live shows would go down.

  10. Mr. Show??? Too many good sketches to pick just one… But that said

The Story of Everest is a phenomenon. You know what’s coming. You know. Everyone in the room knows. And yet when it happens – again – it’s the funniest fucking thing ever. Appeals to stoned college kids and grandparents alike (I tested this one personally – I played it for my very elderly grandmother, and she laughed like I hadn’t heard her laugh in years).

  13. Human Giant was great. They were actually a sketch group, consisting of Aziz Ansari, Rob Heubel, and Paul Scheer (Andre, The League).

My favorite recurring sketch was “Illusionators” that mimicked Chris Angel. “Prepare your mind, for a mind explosion!”
