  1. Kudos to Greg for mentioning Fables. That is one of my all time favorite books. I also did not expect to hear 1602 mentioned but I too love that story. I agree the DC Direct to DVD
animated movie of Death to Superman did not do the comic justice. I still was not a fan of that story. Always came off as a stunt to me so maybe that clouds my judgment too much.

    1. I have gotten very verocious when it comes to Fables. So far I haven’t found a bad story, but I am only a couple of graphic novels in.

    2. It was indeed a blatant stunt but then again so are some other comic stories. I don’t necessarily think it takes anything away from this one. If it was something lame I would say it was a cheap stunt but the whole thing with Doomsday was just so well done. If Superman were to die, I could see it happening like this.

      1. Really all crossovers and big storylines are a stunt in one way or another. But a stunt can be good. I too love the Civil War. It’s the best event Marvel has done in the last ten years or so.

        1. Totally agree. Civil War is even a stunt if you think about it. Marvel said lets take all of our major heroes and pit them against each other in a huge battle. Instant classic

  2. Another great episode guys. The top fives are always fun. To answer Chucks question maybe they could create an additional worm hole so when the monsters come through it sends them straight to space.

    1. Haha I like it! Kind of like a horizontal stargate directly over the breach. Awesomeness

      1. I always wondered why they didn’t try to blast some holes in the earth and try to fill the portal with hot lava or something. Maybe the creatures would survive that? I don’t know.

  3. Little surprised by the lack of any Batman in anyone’s top 5s. Not to mention the easy go tos like Watchman. Kingdom Come is one my personal favorites. Top five maybe not. But up there for sure. Also need to check out 1602 cause I never heard of it before. Missed my radar completely.

    1. I think the lack of Batman is due to the fact that the guys and I swing to the Marvel side. He def. does make Honorable Mention. We are trying to get out there and expand beyond one or two publishers. There are so many things to read and so little money or time.

      1. We do like to swing that way lol. I would like to expand a little but I don’t think it will happen much because there is still so much I want to check out from the big 2. I wouldn’t be against some Dark Horse stuff tho namely Star Wars and Predator

    2. what about my tower of Babel pick? Although it was under the JLA title it’s a very Batman-centric story

    3. One thing to remember is that we are talking about favorite not best, which are two different lists. And like I mentioned there are a lot of stories I still need to catch up with.

  4. I was not nearly as impressed with Under the Skin as Dan is. I found it pretentious and pointless. It was someone trying to be Kubrick without the talent to back it up. I do admire the score but besides that I’m not getting the hype of this one, and I liked movies like Tree of Life.

    1. To each their own I guess. Like I said when talking about it its not a movie for everyone.

  5. Fables is one of my personal favorites. Great story telling. A lot of people have tried to copy what they do but is never as good.

    1. I hear that Fables will be coming to the big screen. Should be interesting to see how they copy it on to film.

  6. I never thought I would find someone else who likes Death of Superman as much as me. I get killed for it all time time. Doomsday is badass in every way, and reading that as a kid made me look at Superman in an entire new light. It is one of those books I always good back to no matter what anyone says.

    1. Awesome! Lol I kinda felt the same way. Everyone kind of shuns that story and it doesn’t get the love it deserves. I could not put it down when I read it. I remember thinking man I am really glad Doomsday is not real that dude is just plain scary.
