  1. Holy crap. Cartoon All Stars to the Rescue!?!?! Man, does THAT bring back some memories. Oh what a simpler time in life. Man that special epitomizes the late 80’s and early 90’s.

      1. I love the idea of Ralph not being a part of it cause he’s really into Pot. I could totally see that. Well though if any turtle is as pot head it would be Michelangelo with his surfer dude talk. It would explain all the munchies those guys have.

        1. I never thought of TMNT being pot heads, but I can kind of see. At least with the 80’s Turtle Cartoon.

          1. If any 80s cartoon characters where on drugs and would be The Smurfs. You know ow they were getting Smurfed on some mushrooms.

          2. I think Alf was high too. He had the munchies for kitties. (that sounds dirty in other ways)

    1. I forgot all about it honestly until Greg brought it up. A gem of my childhood.

  2. Out of the fifteen movies I think I heard of maybe three or four. Only watched one which is Attack the Block which I agree is awesome and more people should see it.

    1. Very cool. I wasn’t sure how many people who travel to GCRN know about Attack the Block. It should be in any geeks wheelhouse, but I didn’t see it brought up much on GCRN so I had to include it.

  3. One question about this week’s Unknown, which I liked by the way, Did Dawn of the Dead just show up as a ghost? I was confused about what happened there.

  4. Wow I can’t believe there is a Star Wars novel where Princess Leia and Luke in more of a relationship. That’s a relic and I have to read it lol

    1. Yes some of the older Star Wars novels are great niche reads. It has changed a great deal since the first movie.

    2. I’m just sorry the topic didn’t come up in our “Keepin it in the Family” episode lmao

  5. So I literally was listening to this when I was on Netflix and decided to check out Ghost in the Darkness. Gotta give props to a good recommendation. Strong film all around.

For the Star Wars novel I’ve always preferred The Thrawn Trilogy. For me it starts there and everything else is secondary. The Bane trilogy is really good too. I enjoy the connections to the Knights of the Old Republic video game.

    1. Awesome glad you liked it. It’s something different, maybe that’s what caught my interest so much. Freaky to think something like that actually happened.

    2. I agree the Thrawn is awesome. I hope they use him in the new trilogy some how

      1. They said they are cutting out most of the established EU so I doubt they will use that character, which his sad. I personally hope they get into some Old Republic stuff more. That’s my personal favorite EU stuff.

        1. They said they might use some as in influence but they aren’t going with it step for step. So Thrawn could show up. They’d be dumb not to have him at some point.

    3. I still have not seen it. I will some day I swear! I’ll be talking more about the Bane Trilogy next week as well.

  6. I love lists like this cause I’m always looking for something new. I have seen Batteries Not Included a great deal add a kid but I agree no one talks about it anymore. It’s a fun little film. Also had no idea Star Wars had World War Two connections, and I like to think of myself as a Star Wars fan. I’ll be checking out that Dam Busters movie for sure

    1. How have I gone through life not knowing about Batteries not Included. I found it on YouTube and its such a cute movie. I know that’s a weird thing to say but it so fun.

    2. You are not alone. I think a lot of Star Wars fans know a great deal of Star Wars history but they don’t know much about the history of movies that inspired its creation. Akira Kurosawa’s Hidden Fortress is another that had a large influence on it, among many others. That was back with George Lucas actually cared about film making and used the greats as influences to craft something masterful.

  7. Great. Now my list of shame has grown by a few movies. I agree with the love of Attack the Block. That’s a must watch. I’ve heard of BigFan but stayed away cause I’m not the biggest sports fan. Based on what was said about it I might have to take a look. Anyways fun episode. The Top 5’s are always enjoyable listens.

    1. Yea, I figured many have heard of Attack the Block but I know some still haven’t. Plus its always a good movie to talk about.

  8. The Expanse Series is actually really good. I do think it peeks with the third book. Also don’t ready the prequel book. It’s not very good. It does get more science fiction in the later novels. For what I can remember the first one is the only one with the crime.

Also I want a bumper sticker that says I Love Crime…Novels!

    1. Good to know.I’ll hopefully be picking up the second book soonish. I’ll make sure to mention it on the podcast.
