Ron Pearlman should have been included in this tournament for his work in Hellboy. He is everything that character should be.
I get Hugh Jackman wining. He’s great as Wolverine no doubt. I would have gone Loki over Fassbender personally. Loki has changed with each installment and added a new winkle. Fassbender is doing the same thing over and over.
Hellboy was among the 30 or so characters we were considering along with Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Gary Oldman as Com. Gordon, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Dafne Keen as X23, Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Frank Langella as Skeletor, Natalie Portman from V for Vendetta, Wesley Snipes from Blade, Mickey Rourke from Sin City, Jackie Earl Hayley from Watchmen, and Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl
Jackie Earl Hayley would have been great choice. I’d put him in over Danny Devito as Penguin.
Well this was fun. I got worried there for a moment that Heath Ledger would get knocked out in the first round. He is still by far my favorite. I take him over Mark Hamill. I loved all the small nuances he added to the character. It is a legit legendary performance.
Yea a lot of tough matchups to try to dissect in this one!

Okay I love Deadpool and all but come. Ryan Reynolds over Patrick Stewart? You are taking crazy pills!
Yea, looking back, that sounds and seems crazy to me!!

Ledger was a brilliant Joker, the perfect antagonist for Nolan’s Batman. It was a complete performance from top to bottom. It took one of the most “comic-book” characters from Gotham and turned him into a somewhat realistic psychopath. Well, as realistic as a murderous clown can be.
There are so many little things about the performance that elevate it. There’s the black humour he brings to the role (think the nurses outfit). He never looks at his victims. He improvises (the exploding hospital scene, the clapping in the jail cell). He asked Christian Bale to give him a proper beating in the interrogation scene. His line deliveries were perfect. His facial tics were perfect.
Would he have won an Oscar for the role if he hadn’t died? Probably not, but that’s more to do with the Academy’s tastes than Ledger’s performance.Should have taken it in my opinion.
