  1. Tabloid or entertainment journalism isn’t as new as you guys make it out to be. I think you guys are looking at the past with rose colored glasses. I would highly recommend watching the movie Good Night, and Good Luck. The reason being you’ll see this struggle between fluff and real news and gone on forever. Even legendary newscaster Edward R. Murrow was forced to do entertainment news at times. Also watch the documentary Tabloid that shows that Tabloid journalism has been around forever too.

Now has entertainment news expanded? Of course, but all news has expanded. We have a channel dedicated just to entertainment news, but we also have a channel dedicated just to freaking golf.

I personally don’t watch cable news, if I do watch news it’s usually PBS or BBC America because they actually provide straightforward news without all the other garbage. Though Brain Williams on NBC is really good too.

Not to mention we live in a word where you can easily control the content you absorb. I never see anything about entertainment news unless someone is making a joke on a late night talk show. I agree entertainment
news is horrible which is why I avoid it.

    1. thanks for the feedback, first off the basis for my argument that entertainment news has gone to the forefront of everything… is based on what I saw as a kid, compared to now.

YES I knew tabloid and fluff news has been around forever, but the point I was trying to make is that it seems like that’s all there is today.

as far as the US flipping itself on it’s head because of the current administration…that was a JOKE! just like any of the late night hacks would make.

Do I make “general opinions” yes but they are not uninformed opinions when it comes to whatever I might dislike. I do fact checking, but sometimes emotions do take over.

And finally….. I find it highly offensive that you compare us to F****X news. We do research unlike them, and while yes we emotionally react to stuff, most of the time we back it up with a real opinion. At least WE have NEVER confused an interviewee for someone else.

thanks for listening! Get ready for GCRN awards reveals next week. the 14th of March!

      1. That confusion of an interviewee was a local L.A. Affiliate. I would hardly compare that to FOX NEWS Mike……the comment of you guys sounding like fox news made me laugh until i cried.

I don’t watch entertainment news anymore honestly I get all my news from 3 places: Twitter, Slash Film, and Hollywood BabbleOn.

I think entertainment news and all news suffers from the 24 hour news cycle. But CNN or Fox News at anytime of the day….it’s 90% nonsense.

Fr crying out load burying the Boston Marathon Bombing CNN talked about pressure cookers for 45 minutes because they had no actual info to convey.
And with what SuperFilmFan98 watch Good Night and Goodluck.

Also the comment that the word is flipping itself on its head because of the administration is utter ridiculous. After listening to the episode I shouldn’t be surprised it was being run by crazy conservatives. Conservatives tend to run their mouth about stuff as if they know what they are talking about but in reality have very little clue. You guys would be great on fox news. Emotional reactions without valid evidence.
