  1. I could not agree more that Ender’s Game was too rushed. They hallowed out that story to the point there was nothing left. I mentioned on Alter’s Geek posts but I’ll say it here too,. That should be a TV Mini Series, not a movie.

    1. Yeah, I would agree there. Or they’d need more than one movie to hash it all out. The main course of the movie was familiar but the pacing left out a lot, I agree.

    2. Yes, not even reading the book I could tell many of the concepts were only touched upon.

  2. Yay another podcast. I got worried after you missed a week. Too bad Mike wasn’t on this episode. Affter your last discussion on Marvel films I was looking forward to round 2. Still a great listen.

    1. I was hoping for that too, after seeing no S.H.I.E.L.D. in this it had me wondering if that would come up in the discussion. lol.

  3. I hated Thor: The Dark World. It was so generic. Game of Thrones was better handled than the entire movie.

    1. I like the Marvel Cinematic Universe character of Thor, but only when he can play off the Avengers. I loathed the first Thor film when I originally saw it, and even watching it recently I still don’t care about any of the characters.

Is the sequel any better than the first film? I’ve already decided to wait for netflix or RedBox to even see it. I’m more pumped for Cap 2 and X-Men 6 lol umm… I mean Days of Future Past

      1. Thor 2 is far superior to the first Thor. The action is so much better handled, and hey really get into the mythology of Thor on a greater scale.

    2. I enjoy GOT a great deal, but I don’t see how you can say it is better than Thor. Maybe in a character standpoint, but that’s a hard comparison because you have much more time on a TV to develop all those characters.

    3. Thor was good and Thor: The Dark World was better. Game of Thrones has more time to develop characters so it’s not a fair comparison. On the flip side, the visuals here blow GOT out of the water. For what the movie was trying to do, it was effective.

      1. Ok yes, it’s not a fair one to one comparison. Thor to me had no new ideas. It took ideas from different properties and forced them into one movie. Game of Thrones on the other hand is full of interesting and new concepts.

        1. On some level I agree with that, but Marvel is also sticking to the source material somewhat. I will say the final battle sequence was pretty unique and different. The main villain in general wasn’t great at all, I’ll give ya that. It’s really just the Thor and Loki show, which I enjoyed.

          1. That I will give you. The Thor and Loki stuff was well done.

        2. they had a MAJOR ‘new idea’ that I had never seen before as far as action sequences go…not sure how you missed that one?

      2. 100% with you there. Thats apples vs fantasy oranges. Both are successful at what they attempt to accomplish.

  4. Thor: The Dark World really surprised me. Wasn’t expecting anything special at all. What I got was a really fun movie. Great podcast all! A lot of great back and forth. Broke this movie down very well.

  5. I love it when I hear podcasts combine. Its like the movie geek Avengers or something lol. Thor majorly surprised me.

I don’t know if you guys even remember this but back during the MWIRE Fall preview Kevin and TFG1 Mike had a bet on what would be better Thor or Wolverine. So who won? My vote goes to Thor if it helps.

    1. Wow, impressed with your memory! Thanks for remembering to point that out… I will save my thoughts for when we do the year in review podcast but I think its safe to guess who I think won that bet! :)

    2. what were the terms of the bet? lol will see Wolverine when it hits RedBox same for Thor 2.

    3. Oh man, I forgot about that. Funny thing is that turned out a lot closer than I thought it would.

  6. I love it when I hear podcasts combine. Its like the movie geek Avengers or something lol. Thor majorly surprised me.

Oh and I’d love to see Silver Surfer get his own movie. No idea who’d play him. It really wouldn’t matter since it would be mostly CGI.

  7. Black Panther needs to get his own movie and he needs to be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor

    1. I’ve been saying that for years. I just don’t know if he’d do a comic book movie now.

  8. @KingOfKongs:disqus Black Panther does need to happen and that is the perfect casting choice.

I would also love to see a Doctor Strange movie. After watching Person of Interest Jim Caviezel would be ideal for that role.

    1. Yes Doctor Strange needs a movie. That would be awesome. I even like the old TV movie made back in the 70’s.

  9. Great episode guys. Glad you all enjoyed Thor, I loved it as well. Best comic book movie of the year for me.

  10. Lets so Marvel do something total batshit like a Dazzler movie or Howard the Duck 2.

    1. Sad thing is even if Marvel made those movies I’m sure they would still make bank

  11. Vision Needs to be in a movie and he needs to be played by Agent Coulson himself, Clark Gregg

  12. Cool beans I found another movie podcast to listen to! Your format is tight in how you cover news, box office, and reviews. Don’t know of many that do all that. Its kind of long, but I like long podcasts unlike most.

I don’t know about Marvel Characters at all. I would love to see a Civil War movie though. That would be sweet.
