  1. Great review of Out of the Furnace. We share many of the same issues. Don’t get a lot of the hate the movie was getting.

I tend to always go to the movies on Christmas, if anything it allows me to get away from the holiday craziness. As a family we watching It’s a Wonderful Life when its on TV as well. When that happens it officially feels like Christmas.

  2. I go on a Christmas movie binge some time before Christmas. My musts are A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and Elf. I try to add some notorious horrible movies as well like Santa Clause the Movie.

I love the idea of two Marvel cinematic worlds out there. Seriously my childhood dreams are coming true.

  3. Woody Harrelson kept reminding me of someone, but I couldn’t remember who then you said it. Sling Blade, he is such a baddass version of Sling Blade in this.

My family always goes to the movies on the week of Christmas. The day changes but we tend to use it as a way to do something as a family beyond the normal opening presents and eating food.

  4. There is only one Christmas movie I make sure to see during this time of year and that is Bad Santa. So freaking hilarious.

          1. I’ll back you up. I’d go Christmas vacation over Bad Santa. Santa is great, but Vacation is a classic.

          2. I prefer Bad Santa. Christmas Vacation does not hold up very well.

          3. *jaw drops to the floor* HOW the hell does Christmas Vacation NOT hold up? I can understand someone not liking it, but EXPLAIN to me how you think it doesn’t hold up?

You have a guy who does crazy things and his family still loves him, he’s a hard worker who the boss screwed outta a bonus for him, then he has to deal with his nutty family…. if that isn’t an every person xmas story I dunno what is.

          4. I don’t find Chevy Chase funny. He is the same joke over and over again and lacks subtlety

          5. that’s fine if you don’t like him, hell what you said there can be said about many comics. Still didn’t tell me how you think the film doesn’t hold up. LOL

          6. His rant about his boss alone holds up…That, and “$#!tter’s Full!”

            Blasphemy.

Mike, we’ll have to harass them after Talkin’ Bout My Generation’s Xmas Vacation podcast goes up…:)

          7. I have to stick my vote to Christmas Vacation as well. One of those movies that is good for any age at any time. Not as good as the first vacation movie but a close second.

  5. December is a busy movie month overall. I try to catch a movie on Christmas day and this year I have a lot of choices. Often I go alone just to get away from all the family craziness.

  6. My Holiday movie traditions include, and I’m embarrassed to say this, but the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family. Something about all the corny movie fest they have makes me feel warm inside.

    1. No need to be ashamed. I’m sure many share your love for it based on how much I hear about it.

  7. Holidays is the only time I get a break from school so I spend it watching a lot of movies and TV shows. Catching up on everything I have missed. One tradition I had for awhile was going to see the Lord of the Rings movie each December, and how with the Hobbit movies coming out we get to do it again! Yay us.

  8. Glad to see you all are doing star reviews now! Hope that continues. Another suggest ion for you if you don’t mind. Do you all ever think about doing a spoiler section at the end of the show where you could go into more detail? I’d like to hear the specific issues you had on some cases.

For holiday traditions in movies I don’t really have any. I do go to the movies around Christmas time. With the amount of good stuff coming out around that time in recent years its hard to stay away.

    1. We could discuss that. The only issue is each episode as about two hours as it is right now, so adding what could possibly be another 20 minutes are so could be overkill. But thanks for the feedback. It is something to consider.

      1. I would only ask if you do a spoiler section to make it very clear just in case I haven’t had the chance to watch the movie yet.

        1. I’m sure it would be made very clear lol Maybe start with spoilers then go onto the rest of the eps… or have the what are we watching spoilers, then the rest of the ep lol

        2. If we did enter spoiler territory for the main attraction it would probably be placed at the end as a bonus or something.

  9. My girl friend and I watch The Holiday around this time each year. God…I’m whipped.

  10. I avoid everything Holidays when it comes to movies. It is too crazy around Christmas time and too many people who normally do not go to the movies and don’t know how to behave properly.

    1. You just have to know which days and times to go! :) – I NEVER deal with rude people at the theatre and I go see 30-50 movies a year all throughout otherwise ‘busy’ times. Its all about the strategic planning ;)

  11. Awesome review of Out of the Furnace. I was debating if I should see this because there are so many actors I like. Sounds like I should hold off until I can rent it. Oh and awesome on you for doing star ratings now!

I never thought about movie traditions during the holiday season before, but when I think of it I do have some. Don’t know if it counts but I always watch A Charlie Brown Christmas Special and how The Grinch Stole Christmas. Big childhood favorites.

    1. I am the same as you. I too spend Christmas Eve watching some sort of Christmas movie and watch a lot of Christmas Story when it is run for 24 hours.

  12. Am I the only person who thought the Amazing Spider-man 2 trailer looked wicked awesome? I get there are a lot of characters but having Oscorp as the main bad guy makes it so much easier. They all become beefed up henchmen so you can skipped the borning origin stuff.

      1. I wasn’t a fan. Looks like a gigantic mess and the CGI is questionable in moments. Electro looks very cheesy.

    1. I don’t know, it just looks like a big mess to me. Many Oscorp being the main evil organization can streamline things, but I still have my doubts.

  13. For the month of December I do end up watching a lot of movies about Christmas, and try to catch up on one I haven’t seen before each year. This year I watched the animated movie Arthur Christmas which was quite good.

  14. I always watch a number of Christmas classics. Number one on that list for me is Miracle on 34th Street. A timeless classic I watch around the same time each year. Also you can’t go without catching It’s a Wonderful Life.

  15. I’m reading this comments and I find it out as I tend to do the opposite. I avoid Christmas movies at all costs, well except for one, Home Alone. I mean, come on, how can you not love that kid.
