  1. I saw robocop this weekend and i was really board by it too much talking and i did not like Robocop’s taser gun bucause the true robocop doesn’t need a taser gun

    1. But this version wasn’t going for what the original did. Its not having that commentary on the extreme violence in movies because violence in movies is much more toned don today.

      1. But the purpose of the character was to comment on violence so if you remove that what is the point

        1. I dont see that as the sole purpose of the character at all in fact not even as the most important purpose of the character

          1. I agree. I see it as an element not the sole purpose. The beauty about the original was how it commented on so much with its satire and social commentary. Not only one thing.

          2. Maybe sole purpose isn’t the proper phrasing. I do think it is a part
            of the character though.

  2. Yay! Things feel normal again as I get to start my Monday mornings with MWIRE Weekly. I loved the Top 10 Movie gross countdown. I’m on Kevin’s side with X-Men: Days of Future Past. I think it will be one of the biggest movies of the summer.

I thought Robocop was going to be one of the worst movies of the year, and it ending up being okay. Nothing amazing but had moments I liked. Some of the action was fun as well.

  3. I’m pretty certain Hunger Games will dominate the box office once again. I don’t see Divergent doing that well.Sure there is a fan base but that fan base turned big time
with the third book. Everyone hated it making me think people will turn away
    from the movie.

  4. I enjoyed Robocop a lot more than you guys. Maybe i expected less but it was coherent and didn’t make me question my sanity so I ended up finding it fun.

    My top 5 grossing films of 2014: 1. Hunger Games 2. How to Train Your Dragon 2 3. X-Men, 4-Transformers 5-Amazing Spider-Man 2.

    1. It will be fun to see which of us is closest when all is said and done.. Curious what your 6-10 would be?

      1. This would be my Top 10. I like this game, and I believe there
is a specific one for Summer movies as well. Think I listened to Slash Film do it last year. 10. Captain America 9. Maleficent 8. Captain America, 7.
        Godzilla, 6. Hercules (The Rock One) 5. The Hobbit 4. Transformers 3. Interstellar2. X-Men, 1. Transformers.

  5. I think Hunger Games will be the biggest movie of the year. Maybe Transformers. I Just think we might be done with all those movies by now. Maybe people are sick of them? Maybe I’m wrong.

  6. Not sure how right I’ll be but here’s my guess for Top 10 box office: 10. How to Train Your Dragon 2, 9. The Hobbit, 8. Lego Movie, 7. Godzilla, 6. Interstellar, 5. TMNT, 4. Captain America 3. X-Men Days of Future Past. 2. Transformers, 1. Hunger Games.

  7. There is no question in my mind that Hunger Games will dominate. That thing is only getting better

  8. Will you guys be talking about the Lego Movie at all?
Curious to hear your thoughts. I felt it was of course amazing. Seriously the
best animated movie I’ve seen in the last few years.

      1. Yay! I loved that movie. DOn’t know if its the best animated movie in years but its good.

  9. Two movies you guys missed that could make tons of cash A Million Days to Die in the West and Neighbors. I think Neighbors has the potential to be this summer’s Hangover and Ted did really well when it came out so I think West could do the same.

    1. I considered A Million Ways to Die in the West while voicing Ted on Family Guy just for the MacFarlane factor, but 200 mil is a lot of money to bring in…

    2. Similar to Kevin although I could see those movies making a great deal of money $200 million is rare for any comedy. Plus a western is a hard sell even with McFarlene’s name attached.

  10. What did you guys think of the Samuel L. Jackson stuff in Robocop? I thought it was on point and the only part that made me think of the classic Robocop. I too liked the look of the new Robocop much more than I thought I would.

    1. Those segments were fine for what they were. It was the only attempt to do any for of Social Commentary.

  11. Am I the only one who really loved Robocop? Maybe I’m overrating it but I thought it was a lot of fun. I get the issues you guys were talking about mbut for a straight forward action/sci fi film I thought it was good. Also Kevin gave it two starts but it sounded like he did enjoy it or gave it a pass, or was I hear wrong?

Did you guys see the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer? So epic!

  12. Are you guys doing any bet with your Top 10 lists? Like if someone is more right than the other do they get to have the other person watch a movie of their choice?
