  1. My personal favorite Hoffman performance was from The Master. He took full control in that movie. I could not stop watching what he was doing. Such a force. Such a tragedy that we lost him.

    1. I concur I think that might be his best overall performance. He was the total package of Hoffman. He was unbelievable to watch. Some of my other favorites are from Charlie Wilson’s War and I dug his directorial debut with Jack Goes Boating.

  2. God Hoffman’s career was so amazing. I think the first role that let me know just how amazing of an actor he is was Boogie Nights. He took a role that could have been nothing and made it a standout in the movie. That guy could do it all.

  3. I think The Rock would make an awesome Green Lantern. He has the look for it, and he can bring some charm that franchise needs really bad. Plus Jon Stewart is a million times better than Hal Jordan.

I’ll be honest I’m not huge into the world of Phillip Seymour Hoffman but I did love his performance in the last Hunger Games movie, and I was really looking forward to where that would lead.

    1. I could see the Rock playing that role as well. He would bring some charm to a franchise that desperately needs it.

      1. I don’t see Rock in that role simply because he is too big for it physically and personality wise. Jon Stewart is more reserved and I don’t see the Rock could fit that part. He’s a little too cartoonish for the world they are creating.

  4. One of Phillips Seymour Hoffman’s best performances came in the form of voice acting. In the movie Mary and Max he gave a voice performance that made him unrecognizable. I don’t think people realize it was him, playing this Brooklyn middle age slub. More people need to talk about that performance.

  5. I know this is not the most high brow answer but I thought Hoffman was hilarious in Along Came Polly. That movie was not very good but that scene of him at the basketball court was so freaking funny. I’ve been watching it on a loop since his passing.

    1. You are not alone! I was going to say the same thing. I kind of like that movie too!

  6. For me the best PSH performance as in Synecdoche, New York. That is a little bit odd of a movie but he makes it work.

  7. I am probably not going to get taken seriously for this answer but I really loved Hoffman in Twister. I haven’t really seen a lot of his movies but I thought he was funny in this role and he made the movie a little more down to earth. After all the special effects were a little crazy but I still love that movie. But I thought Hoffman was fun and engaging, kind of made it relatable like he was that type of guy that everyone knows one, just silly and fun.
