  1. The twist in Iron Man 3 caught me off guard. I did not see what they did with the Mandarin coming. The twist in the Nicolas
Cage movie Next was very obvious and I saw that coming from a mile away.

  2. One of my all time favorite twists is in The Prestige. I never saw that twist coming, and I thought it was amazing. Nolan’s most underrated movie.

It is an easy target but The Village ending I guess when I saw that trailer. I literally made a joke about how I bet the entire movie takes place in present day. Turns out I was right.

    1. The Prestige is a good one. Although I prefer the ending to Memento. Nolan is not slouch when it comes to great endings.

      1. Prestige and Memto are good choices. But you are right even in Inception was a great ending. Nolan does not give enough credit for that.

  3. Nazis at the Center of the Earth may be one of the best titles of all time. When you talk about twists you have to go to Usual Suspects. At time time it shook me to my core. No movie twist has topped it since then.

    1. My first thought was usual suspects as well. That’s one of the best twists and makes rewatching it even better. Though I worry its not as big of a twist now since the actor is more well known.

      1. That ending was ruined for me. I’ll be forever angry at my friend for that.

  4. Terry Crews would be awesome as Luke Cage! He is amazing in Brooklyn 99 and Expendables. He’d bring a lot of humor to that role.

  5. A comic book fan not excited about X-Men Days of Future Past? Super surprised about that. Fight Club is my all-time favorite twist. There are so many little touches that hint at it, but it’s not overly obvious.

Bad twists I’m not sure about. There are some great twists that have been ruined because of how infamous they are like Planet of the Apes and Star Wars.

  6. I was never a fan of the King Arthur movie from the early 2000’s. It always felt like a poor man’s Lord of the Rings.

For twists Identity has one of my favorites. It is a little gimmicky but I think it works. Regarding horrible twists you have to say the 2001 Planet of the Apes. One of the worst of all time that you could see coming a mile away.

    1. Oh god the 2001 Planet of Apes movie was bullshit. That ending was so freaking dumb. Ape Abraham Lincoln. Are you serious? Please!

      1. I see you are one of those guys who likes to passive aggressively spoil things for people without warning lol

        1. There’s not way to spoil 2001 Planet of the Apes. IF anything I did people a favor.

        2. Got to agree with Brad on this one. It is impossible to spoil a rotten piece of garbage like that movie.

  7. The reason I mentioned Taco Bell with Demolition Man was because all the restaurants in the future were turned into Taco Bell in that movie. Regarding twists I hate it when any movie that has a weird things going on and they solve the mystery with freaking aliens. Movies like Knowing or The Forgotten come to my mind. One of my personal favorites is the ending of 12 Monkeys. It was not super surpising but the little twist is very effective.

  8. All this time and no one has really mentioned Empire Strikes Back! Movie twists begin and end with Empire. The one twist I saw coming was for Number 23 with Jim Carrey. Called it from the beginning with I saw the trailer.

Have not seen Nazi’s at the Center of the Earth but I will now. Sounds like amazeballs.

    1. There was a twist in Empire Strikes Back? j/k Although I never really saw that as a twist, it was pretty freaking predictable…

      1. Its obvious now, but at the time it wasn’t. I mean nothing in that movie really hints that Darth is Luke’s father so I wonder how you can call it predictable? What clues did you see that tipped you off?

  9. I love the end of Donny Darko, Usual Suspects, Seven, and Fight Club. I don’t have a specific ending in mind but anytime someone tries the ‘it was all a dream’ ending I hate it. In movies, TV shows, or comics. It is such a comp out

  10. If you guys liked Oldboy I would also recommend checking out the other films in the Vengeance trilogy Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. It is thematic trilogy more than a plot trilogy so its not like any of the story carry overs. South Korea is full of great movies, many of which deal with vengeance. Director Kim Jeen-woon has made some great stuff like The Good, The Bad, The Weird (which I think is on Netflix), A tale of Two Sisters, and I Saw the Devil. Also love Johh-ho Bong’s The Host (if you love B science fiction films you’ll enjoy that) and Mother–which was my favorite film of 2010.

Regarding endings one of my favorites is in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation. Its one of the twist endings that’s not so outrageous its ridiculous and makes everything you watch pointless, instead it adds more weight and more intellectual complexity to it. Also really like the ending to Identity. Yes its a common trope and has been done but for some reason it worked on me in that one.

Don’t know about bad endings though. One ending that has bugged me is Spielberg’s World of the Worlds. Its not really a twist per say but it is rather ridiculous that *spoiler alter* his son is still alive.
