Question:
What is the best video game film adaptation? What is the worst? Which video game should be made into a film that hasn’t been yet?

The Raid One is called The Raid: Redemption and its an awesome action movie. One of the best in the last few years. Word out of the Sundance Film Festival is the sequel is just as good but too long.
Is there a good video game adaptation? I can’t think of one. Does Scott Pilgrim count? The worst? All of them. I do think Zelda could be a cool movie.
I was thinking the same thing with Elysium. That is in the vein of a video game in some parts. Same with District 9. There are a lot of movies that feel like video games that aren’t. Most of which are better than actual video game movies.
At one time the director of Elysium and District 9 was on tap to direct the now defunct Halo movie. As such I can’t watch either movie with out seeing left over unused Halo props (which were being made for the Halo movie) and concepts that would essentially be Halo prequels:)
I still really liked D9, haven’t seen Elysium yet but I can’t help but see Damons power suit as a precursor to the Spartan armor in Halo.
I got to see Raid 2 and I have to say (it is even better than the first one).
Super jealous he saw Raid 2. Love the first Raid, and I’ve been avoiding trailers for Raid 2 as much as possible. I hope they put it on VOD but I doubt that will happen.
I think I’m losing it. I checked on Monday and didn’t see the episode. Go back again and it was there! My advanced age is killing my observation skills.
I was disappointed with the new Muppets movie. It was ok but felt like a cash grab. I wish the would focus less on the human characters.
I don’t watch videogame movies I can’t help you with your question. I do like the idea of the Assassins Creed movie and Warcraft done by the guy who made Moon.
regarding the release of the podcast….OpSolo usually gets me the final file by Tues morn… I do all the technical stuff for the file, then upload it. After that I backdate it to Monday as that’s it’s day of release :-)
Ahh ok. So I’m not too crazy.
You are not alone. Was wondering the same thing.
For which game that hasn’t been made into a film yet… that’s easy… ZELDA! more specifically the SNES game A Link To the Past! That’d be the only fantasty film as far as gaming is concerned that I’d actually go see day one.
One could argue, me of course, that Olympus Has Fallen would have made a good Splinter Cell movie.
That’s more Die Hard then Splinter Cell though.
The premise from beginning to end, yes agreed. The story from the intrusion to the end, Splinter Cell-ish, IMO.
Olympus has Fallen is definitely Die Hard worthy. That would have been a better logical step to Die Hard 4.0 than the crappy A Good Day to Die Hard.
I kind of like the Doom movie. That wasn’t all that horrible. I did not expect the slight twist they had in that. I wish they would just make that Uncharted movie already. The guy I’d like to see take the lead role is not Nathan Fillion like everyone else though. I think Bradley Cooper would be best for that part.
Agreed about it not being Fillion. But I wouldn’t want Cooper either. I’d take the lead from Burn Notice, Lockout was pretty much Uncharted in space so I could see Guy Pearce as Nate. There was one other guy recently too who I could see in the role, can’t remember his name at the moment.
I’m curious why you wouldn’t want Cooper? He has that rugged look like Indy I think would work well. And he can be snarky.
It’s not that I don’t like Cooper, I like him, he is just too pretty, and too much of name I guess, plus he is super busy. Guardians of the Galaxy and what not, not to mention he has just be thrown into the rumor mill for the next/new Indian Jones.
For the Uncharted movie to get off the ground, it probably will have a restrictive budget which means a name like Cooper probably wouldn’t be in the budget:)
I replied to this, not sure what happened to that response:/
Bradley Cooper comes off too jerkish for me. I don’t see him in that role.
The original Mortal Kombat holds a special place in my heart. The sequel though is just the worst. Games that could be movies? How about Halo! That needs to be a movie already. Mass Effect is already basically a movie but it still should be one. Also Skyfox could make a kick ass cartoon movie.
You mean StarFox, yes?

I agree that Uncharted should finally be made into a movie
Prince of Persia wasn’t horrible. I guess that’s the best video game movie…maybe. Its like being a semi bright crayon in a very dull box.
Don’t know much about video games to say which ones would be good. Warcraft is not a game I have a desire to play but I could see that being a good movie.
Games that haven’t been a movie yet could be:
Metroid, Duke Nukem, Sonic, Mega Man X, Metal Gear Solid
My picks, duke nukem, dingo crisis (jp4) toorok dinosaur hunter, war for cybertron
Ps I liked spirits within, so send the hate my way lol
