UNLEASH THE MOTU GEEK IN YOU!!!!!
Welcome back, guys! I’m in agreement with your reviews so far. I’ve watched The Reluctant Wizard and Friends Are Where you Find Them. I didn’t mind the plot for The Reluctant Wizard either, but the execution just didn’t work for me. I liked the wizard hiding as a tree, but his motivation was not very thought-provoking. Rating is 2 Crystal Castles. And I won’t waste much time on the ‘Friends’ episode. I know I watched it, but even after listening to you guys discuss it afterwards, I couldn’t remember much from the episode, it was that forgettable. Easily one the worst episodes. Rating is 1 Crystal Castle, and that’s generous.
Glad to be back! Hopefully all our work behind the scenes will allow you some consistent content to catch up with the rest of the year!
OK. I watched A Talent for Trouble, which was EASILY the best episode of the three. Actually, it was another all-around good episode. The crossover episodes tend to be very strong. And when you have Larry DaTillio as the writer, you can hardly go wrong. I liked seeing Orko and Madam Raz meeting for the first time. As Kevin pointed out, the reveal of Hordak on his throne was a very nice animation shot. I’m surprised Filmation went to those lengths, actually. The episode was a lot of fun. The mind sweeper dialogue was very funny, and John Irwin’s delivery with it had me smiling. “Hordak is a meanie.” It’s goofy, but it’s Larry writing it and having a blast. The one thing I did not like was the wrap-up. As Mike pointed out, a hay cart?! Sure, those do exist on Etheria…that’s acceptable. But a better resolution could have been found. I wonder if this was a case of the script being changed to fit the limited animation budget? We may never know. Rating is 4.5 Crystal Castles. A good way to end the set of episodes this week.
