  1. Hi guys! It is good to be trekking through season two now. I’m also going to watch along with the BCI DVD sets. I like that you’re going to occasionally mention some of the fun facts from the DVDs this season. Those DVDs are excellent. The bonus features are entertaining and some are quite lengthy. Plus, you have to love the mural made when you combine the spines of all the sets together.

So this week I am siding with Kevin. THE SHADOW OF SKELETOR was a solid episode. Above average, really. I was skeptical going into this one since I was not familiar with the writer. There were some ridiculous things in there, but overall we got a good story and several evil warriors made their appearances. It was good to see some new animation in this episode as well. The one thing that I will nitpick about is that given the title of this episode I expected more of a Skeletor centric plot. The title is good, but it wasn’t befitting of this episode, IMO. Rating: 4 Orkos

THE ENERGY BEAST, actually written again by Robi from the previous episode and not David Wise, who is credited in the BCI DVD fun facts card, has some problems, but I found that I enjoyed it quite a bit. I like the plot. I like the Energy Beast. And I actually liked it when Orko twice gasped at He-Man’s ability to cut a hole in the mountain, saying, “Wow!” He gets to see He-Man do incredible feats all the time, and it was welcoming to hear Orko express some amazement at what He-Man is able to accomplish. I like the idea of He-Man Day, but changing it to a day for everyone means it is just another day. That was just ridiculous. Rating: 3.5 Orkos

Finally, FISTO’S FOREST. Well, as I said, I am going to disagree with Mike this week. This was a weak episode. Sure, it was great seeing another He-Man character in Fisto, but the plot and story were just lazy rehashes of the Man-E-Faces episode, really, which Mike pointed out. The girl was incredibly annoying. I hate those whispery voices they give kids when adults try to voice children in this series. It just doesn’t work. The addition of the spider to Fisto truly was a smart move, making him seem more genuine as a bad guy. But as Kevin said, lazy writing by Doug Booth ruins this episode. Fisto should have no problem lifting that log off of his back with that giant metallic fist and strong arm. Because some girl helps him out (saves his life, sure) he is just going to turn good?! This was poor planning on the part of the writer. I know it is a kids show, but other writers have done better. You can still be somewhat creative in how you get to your destination with characters. Worst episode this week. Not an episode I hate, but one that definitely has issues. Rating: 2.5 Orkos

Looking forward to next week, guys. Keep up the great work!

    1. Fisto’s Forest was the best one end of story. It gave us the intro to the character, even though the execution was dimilar to Manny’s intro…. but compare to the other two it’s far superior…. Shadow of Skeletor should have had MORE MYSTERY behind it all…. and it didn’t…. the Energy Beast is like when Skeletor tried to make a deal with an old friends from Season1…. I forget the ep name…. but felt as if I’d seen it before. Glad to see you continuing the journey with us….!!!!

      1. Well good to hear Tim has a good head on his shoulders. Sorry Mike but you are outnumbered 2 to 1 on these episodes. It’s ok to admit you are wrong, don’t worry no one will judge you ;)

  2. Is POGS going on another hiatus, or were you just putting it off til the 5th anniversary and Batman month finished?

    1. holy crap you listen to the pull Bag? LOL

NO we are NOT going on another hiatus, but a few life things came up…. hopefully it’ll be out soonish.

      1. Good to know.

Actually I listen to all the GCN podcasts except the MASK and Knight Rider ones, I’m really excited that Tooncast Beyond is continuing, it gives me hope that some of my favorite toons will be covered.
