  1. I thought that someone else would have mentioned this by now, but I guess I will.
There is an episode where Stratos’ and Buzz-Off’s people fight, but it’s not in the Filmation cartoon it’s in the Mike Young 2002 cartoon. So you won’t be able to talk about it for a long time.

    1. Oh yea, we are well aware of the 2002 showdown – just neither of us could remember if it happened in the classic series or not – Thanks for listening as always!!

  2. Just finished listening to the first 2/3 of the podcast since I haven’t yet watched the third episode in the show for this week. So, The Good Shall Survive…I was surprised you both ranked this one so high, and that I didn’t agree with you! Usually I am in agreement with at least one of you about the ranking, but I found this one atrocious. First off, like Kevin, I disliked the voices of the bee characters, including Buzz-Off. So that set things up negatively right off the bat. Then the Tycons are seemingly unleashed because honey drips down and breaks open their fossilized cocoon? The plot was fine and there were some good ideas, but there were some poor choices made with the writing and production. I thought the baking soda cake was dumb. It was just a lazy way to bring that into the plot. I also thought that with a little effort they could have done a much better job with the bee voices. Instead, they sounded like they were holding their noses and slipping in a “bzzz” sound here and there. So despite some good ideas, seeing Buzz-Off, and the two new evil minions, I was not very entertained by this one. — 1 Orko

Day of the Machines was more enjoyable. It had several problems. As you mentioned, Duncan giving up because one invention failed could have been handled as simply a disappointment rather than “I failed and I’m just gonna quit.” It presents a good learning opportunity and PSA, but it doesn’t seem to fit the character. I’m sure he has had to persevere through other experiments gone wrong. And then when he is convinced to try again he says something like, I’ll try again, but if this attempt isn’t absolutely perfect, I’ll resign my position. Really?! When do things ever go absolutely perfectly? His goal could have simply been to correct a few issues that inch him closer to the goal. But I realize that time is short and we need to move things along, so I don’t want to fault it too much. Skeletor definitely had some great lines, as Kevin pointed out. I like how he tackles Man-At-Arms’ failure and basically mocks him in a whiny tone. Transporting the energy best to Man-At-Arms lab was corny, as was the king being able to send it back via a beam to Snake Mountain, but what can you do? The ending shot of Snake Mountain under the crackle and shadow of fiery explosions was very cool, as Mike pointed out. Overall, I enjoyed it. Not a great episode, but sort of in the middle. — 3 Orkos
