At the time of its release, this was AWESOME. It still is awesome. There’s nothing better than old school anime.
Also… Best. Cartoon theme song. Ever.
agreed!
I’ve been watching it on Netflix. I like the animation, and the story is picking up somewhat. It hasn’t entirely hooked me yet. The theme song is catchy, but I still don’t understand Kevin and Neil’s opinions that it is the best theme song ever.
I never said it was THE best theme song ever. I did rank it in the Top 5 for 80s themes though along with M.A.S.K., Gummi Bears, Heathcliff and Ducktales though!
I think the world just EXPLODED! OptimusSolo and TV’s Mr. Neil actually agreed on something! Holy Crap on a cracker, it’s a miracle! LOL
I listened to the episode and I agree with a lot of what Mike had to say about the cartoon. I am not sure I will watch all of the episodes. I’m actually watching Jackie Chan Adventures on Netflix and enjoying it a lot more than TMCOG. Having said that, it’s a decent series. I also agree that it felt a little slow starting off. I didn’t care so much about the first few episodes on the ship. But as they reached land and found that cool ship I was more intrigued. I’m eager to see them in the mechanical bird from the opening credits. I’m just not sure it will hold my interest for 30 more episodes.
There is an update in the works, as Toon Zone posted a trailer recently. It looks pretty good, actually.
Shuki Levy and Haim Saban. Yes, these guys were incredible. They have contributed theme songs and music for so many of the cartoons we grew up on, including this one. On Shuki’s website you can actually download many of his themes in their entirety, including MASK, He-Man, She-Ra, Heathcliff, Pole Position and more. You could do a whole show on the contributions that have been made by these two.
