Justice Lords Beyond The Return of Wonder Woman “War Stories” Part 2 of 8

I’m still very interested in this arc of the JL Beyond 2.0 book. I wasn”t pulled in with the Brainiac story. However the Return of the Justice Lords is an epic way to have the two beyond digital first series crossover. Reading the Bat Beyond and JL Beyond together is very much a fun thing to do with this crossover. Kyle Higgins and Christos Gage write the DCAU characters very very well. Thony Silas and Dexter Soy who are the main artists also know how the designs of the DCAU characters work, and they make them so damn awesome!

Writing:

Gage’s writing continues to be great, from the last issue. As a first time reader for this series… starting with this crossover… I feel as if it’s a great jumping on point. They make reference to the previous story’s events. However it doesn’t make me feel as if I HAVE to go back and read it. Gage writing the JL Beyond characters is great. I see all the animated series characters portrayed well, as if they jumped right out of Batman Beyond. So with Gage’s writing there I have no problem.

Gage sets up events that have happened AFTER the Justice League episode, and the fact that the LORDS have their powers back. That was interesting, and he sets the story to the point of we have no idea WHICH of the Wonder Women have returned. Whether it’s Lady Wonder Woman or our Wonder Woman. And then Gage has someone crossover into this universe, a twist I never saw coming…. then ANOTHER twist at the end that I never saw coming. Christos Gage’s writing in this story has been wonderful, because it’s kept me on the edge of my seat for these first two chapters!!!!

Art:

I do like Dexter Soy’s art here, but there’s ONE gripe I have. I understand these events take place AFTER the Justice Lords episode and all that, as well as it takes place AFTER the Batman Beyond episodes The Call. However Aquagirl no matter how old you make her, the bathing suit she wears should not be 10% bathing suit and 90% ass. Look at the image above when Wonder Woman gets intoduced to Aquagirl… there’s something that just creeps me out about the way she is drawn. As far as the rest of Soy’s art it’s amazing. I love the way he designs two different models for the Batwing, and the way the LORDS characters look are just amazing.

Final Thoughts/Rating:

MAN THESE ISSUES NEED TO COME FASTER!!!! I’m loving every aspect of both Bat and JL Beyond 2.0!!!! I hate this waiting around stuff!!!! Once again this team continues to do very well in this series. I cannot give this issue a perfect, because of the Aquagirl thing… it just bugs the crap outta me! However I will give it a four outta five stars. You should  go get JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND 2.0 Chapter 18. This is the third overall chapter of the JUSTICE LORDS OF GOTHAM crossover! All within the Batman Beyond Universe, and you won’t wanna miss a second of it! You can find it on the DC Comics App or Comixology or wherever you get your digital comics. Batman Beyond 2.0 continues to go beyond all expectations!
